How an electromagnetic connection forms

A Channel joins two Gates. An electromagnetic connection is the case where each person has one Gate of the Channel and neither has the whole Channel; together they complete it. If you have Gate 20 in the Throat and the other person has Gate 34 in the Sacral, Channel 20-34 Charisma is complete only when you are together.

Nothing about either chart changes. You both still carry one Gate each. What changes is what the two charts make when they are read together: in the Partnership Composite that Channel is defined, and so are the two Centers it joins.

That is why the connection belongs to the pair rather than to either person. Neither of you has the Channel alone, and each of you supplies half of it.

Why it pulls you in

Each person carries one Gate of the Channel, and the other person carries the Gate that completes it. When the two meet, the Channel is whole and the two Centers it joins are defined between you. It can feel like recognition, or like the other person supplies something you did not know was missing.

The canon puts it simply: people tend to be drawn to what they do not carry themselves. An electromagnetic connection is that pull in a single Channel, which is why it is so often named when two people talk about attraction.

Why it also creates friction

The same mechanics that pull you together make you rub. Each of you has your Gate's way of doing things, and the Channel only works when both halves meet. When one of you wants the Channel's energy and the other is not available, the gap can feel personal.

Seeing the mechanics helps. The friction is not proof that something is wrong between you; it is the other side of the same charge. Knowing which Channels you complete together makes it easier to name what is happening instead of blaming each other for it.

The four connections compared

Partnership Analysis reads every Channel between two charts in the same order: companionship first, then compromise, then dominance, then electromagnetic. Each Channel falls into at most one of the four.

With a partner

With a partner, an electromagnetic Channel can be where the spark lives and also where an argument starts. Notice which Channel is involved when either happens: Charisma, Community and Mating each bring a different flavor. The question is not whether to have the friction but whether you both understand where it comes from.

In families and friendships

Between a parent and a child, or between siblings, an electromagnetic Channel can be both something you enjoy doing together and something you clash over. A child who completes a parent's Channel may feel like the missing piece, which is worth remembering when that child needs room to be separate.

At work

At work, two people who complete a Channel together have that Channel's energy available as a pair, which neither has alone, as long as the work gives it somewhere to go. The same pair can grate on each other when the work does not use the Channel they make.

Decide with your own Type and inner Authority, not from the pull of the connection. Your Strategy and Authority still make your decisions; the connection describes the field you make them in.
