Gate 51 is the Gate of Shock. It carries the Heart Center's willpower aimed at individual initiative: the drive to be first, to step into the unknown, and to shock others into change through your own willingness to leap. Its I Ching hexagram is The Arousing, and the image fits: your presence can be electrifying, unpredictable and hard to ignore.
Gate 51 lives in the Heart Center, a motor that provides willpower in cycles of effort and rest. Unlike the other three Heart Gates, Gate 21, The Hunter/Huntress, Gate 26, The Egoist, and Gate 40, Aloneness, which serve the tribe's material needs, Gate 51 is individual willpower aimed at personal transcendence.

Gate 51 reaches toward Gate 25, The Spirit of the Self, in the G Center. When both Gates are active, they form the Channel of Initiation (25-51), which links the G Center and the Heart and belongs to the Individual Circuit, Centering sub-circuit.
