Channel 42-53 is the Channel of Maturation, also called the Design of Balanced Development. It is the format energy of the Sensing circuit: the mechanism that sets the cyclical rhythm of beginning, middle and end for all experiential learning. When the Sacral responds with a yes to something through this channel, it is responding from the beginning, through the experience, and to the completion. One response commits to the full arc.
The channel connects the Root Center (adrenaline, pressure, the push to begin) to the Sacral Center (life force, sustainability, completion). Both are motors. When the channel is defined, the Root's pressure to start new cycles meets the Sacral's sustained energy to carry each one through to its natural conclusion.
This is generated energy: it defines the Sacral, and it does not reach the Throat. Your Sacral response (or your emotional wave, if your Solar Plexus is defined) decides which cycles to enter. A correct yes carries you through. An incorrect yes can leave you inside a cycle that drains your energy without producing growth.

Gate 53: Beginnings
Located in the Root Center. Its I Ching hexagram is Development. Gate 53 generates Root pressure to begin: the push to start something, to plant the seed of a new experience, the enthusiasm to dive into new territory. Without Gate 42, the beginning has no completion energy, so new cycles start without the sustained fuel to reach their natural end.
Gate 42: Growth
Located in the Sacral Center. Its I Ching hexagram is Increase. Gate 42 is the Sacral's sustained energy to carry a cycle to its conclusion and extract the growth it was designed to produce. Its wisdom is knowing when to let go: when the growth has been harvested and the ending makes space for renewal. Without Gate 53, the completion energy has no new cycle to begin.
The energy flow
Energy flows from Gate 53 in the Root to Gate 42 in the Sacral. Your body feels the pressure to start before your mind can plan, and the Sacral then commits its life force to the whole experience. How long does the cycle take? Anywhere from a few seconds to several years. The commitment is to the full arc, however long it runs.

Endings as renewal
The end of a cycle is not a termination. Once the growth is extracted, space opens for the next beginning. You can stay in a relationship or a career for decades and still move through distinct cycles inside it, each with its own beginning, middle and end.
