What is Gate 42 in Human Design?
Gate 42 is the Gate of Growth, sometimes called Completion. It carries the Sacral Center's life force focused on seeing cycles through to their natural conclusion. Its I Ching hexagram is Increase, and the theme matches: increase comes through finishing, not through piling up more beginnings.
Gate 42 lives in the Sacral Center, the motor of sustainable energy, life force and work capacity. With a defined Sacral, Gate 42 works as generated energy: it responds rather than initiates. The Sacral either says yes to staying with a cycle or it does not. Forcing completion when the energy is gone produces frustration, not growth.
Gate 42 is format energy for the Collective Sensing (Abstract) Circuit. Together with Gate 53, it sets the rhythm every experience in that circuit follows: begin, experience, complete, reflect, share. Gate 53 is the start of the cycle; Gate 42 is the end, the completion that lets the next cycle begin cleanly.

Channel 42-53: The Channel of Maturation
Gate 42 reaches toward Gate 53, the Gate of Beginnings, in the Root Center. When both gates are active, they form Channel 42-53, the Channel of Maturation, linking the Sacral and the Root in the Collective Circuit (Sensing). Both Centers are then defined.
