Juxtaposition Cross of Completion

The Juxtaposition Cross of Completion is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 42, 32, 60 and 56, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path about seeing things through: growth that lasts, limits that are accepted, and a voice that keeps stimulating others.

Simple way to think about it: Completion is the editor who knows when a book is finished. Writing more is easy and stopping is hard, so the editor learns to feel the point where one more page would only take something away from the whole.

The four numbers in brackets are the Gates of your Personality Sun and Earth, then your Design Sun and Earth, for example (42/32 | 60/56). They match the four Gates below. The chart symbols guide shows where the Sun and Earth sit in the two planet columns.

The Completion cross on the BodyGraph

Four Centers hold the four Gates, one Gate in each. Gate 42 is in the Sacral, Gate 32 in the Spleen, Gate 60 in the Root and Gate 56 in the Throat. The conscious pair, 42 and 32, comes from the Right Angle Cross of Maya; the Design pair, 60 and 56, comes from the Right Angle Cross of Laws.

Growth is your conscious Sun and Continuity your conscious Earth, so the two Gates you know best are Sacral and Spleen: working energy and an instinct for what lasts. Acceptance and Stimulation sit on the Design side. The pressure to accept limits and the voice that stimulates others run underneath, and people around you may notice them first.

The four Gates in plain language

Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.

Gate 42: Growth

Gate 42, Growth, is the conscious Sun and sits in the Sacral. Its hexagram is Increase. It completes Channel 42-53, the Channel of Maturation, with Gate 53 in the Root, a Collective Channel in the Sensing stream. As a Sun it is the visible engine of the cross: energy that wants to grow something and see it through. Its fourth line, The Middle Man, is fixed here, so the growth tends to run through connecting people and passing things along rather than staying in one place.

Gate 32: Continuity

Gate 32, Continuity, is the conscious Earth and the cross's Spleen Gate. Its hexagram is Duration. It completes Channel 32-54, the Channel of Transformation, with Gate 54 in the Root, a Tribal Channel in the Ego group. The Spleen speaks once and in the present tense, so as an Earth this is the quiet instinct beneath the growth about what will last. Its fourth line, Right is might, is the one every Completion chart carries: lasting things are held up by what is sound, not by force.

Gate 60: Acceptance

Gate 60, Acceptance, is the Design Sun and the cross's Root Gate. Its hexagram is Limitation. It completes Channel 3-60, the Channel of Mutation, with Gate 3 in the Sacral, an Individual Channel in the Knowing stream. Lived without thinking, it is a pressure toward accepting limits so that something new can happen inside them. The first line, Acceptance, is fixed here: the starting point is taking the situation as it is before trying to change it.

Gate 56: Stimulation

Gate 56, Stimulation, is the Design Earth and the cross's only Throat Gate. Its hexagram is The Wanderer. It completes Channel 11-56, the Channel of Curiosity, with Gate 11 in the Ajna, a Collective Channel that reaches the Throat. It grounds the cross in a voice that stimulates others with stories and ideas. Its first line, Quality, is fixed in this cross, so the voice is best when it is built on something that has been done well rather than on volume.

Growth and Continuity side by side

The two Gates you know best are Gate 42, in the Sacral, and Gate 32, in the Spleen. One brings the energy to increase something. The other asks whether it will last. They are not partners in a Channel here, because their partners, Gate 53 and Gate 54, are not part of this cross.

That leaves the pair open. Growth and Continuity can work together when Gates 53 and 54 appear in the rest of your chart, and can pull apart when they do not. Either way, the conscious experience is of wanting something to grow and wanting it to stay.

A Throat Gate on the Design side

Gate 56 is the only Gate of the four in the Throat, the Center through which everything that leaves you passes. In this cross it is the Design Earth, so the voice works quietly, grounded in the body before it is grounded in thought.

Its Channel, 11-56, joins the Throat to the Ajna and is called Curiosity. The Gate on its own is the half that tells, and Gate 11 is the half that has the ideas. With Quality as its fixed first line, the stories you tell are strongest when you have worked them over, which fits a cross about finishing.

Three circuits in one cross

The Channels these Gates complete belong to the Collective, Individual and Tribal circuits. Gate 42 and Gate 56 reach into the Collective, Gate 60 into the Individual, and Gate 32 into the Tribal.

In practice it means the cross does not have one style of finishing. Some of it is about sharing what has been learned, some about doing it in your own way, and some about looking after the people and resources you are responsible for. Reading which of the three is leading in a given project is part of the work.

Why the Completion is a Juxtaposition cross

Completion has one setting. It does not move through roles or phases, and it does not depend on other people to shape it. Every chart with it carries the same four Gates in the same four lines, so the task is a steady one: learn what finished means for you, and learn to stop there. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.

The four lines of the Completion cross

A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Completion cross carries these four.

Personality Sun: Gate 42.4 The Middle ManYour growth runs through connection, passing ideas and people along instead of keeping everything in one place.
Personality Earth: Gate 32.4 Right is mightUnder the growth, your instinct says that what lasts is held up by what is sound, not by force.
Design Sun: Gate 60.1 AcceptanceBelow awareness you begin by accepting the situation as it is, which gives change something solid to start from.
Design Earth: Gate 56.1 QualityYour voice is at its best when it is built on work done well, so quality does more than volume.

Living the Completion cross

At work

People with Completion tend to be good closers: the ones who take a project from messy middle to finished, or who know when a draft is done. It suits editing, production, teaching, anything with a clear end. The risk is carrying too many open threads, because Growth keeps adding. It helps to name the finish line at the start, and to decide what you are accepting in the scope before the work grows.

In relationships

In close relationships the cross shows up as a wish for things to be settled. Partners may feel the pressure to resolve a conversation before it is finished, or see you retreat when a topic stays open. It helps to say which one is happening. Acceptance works in both directions: it means taking what is there, not forcing the other person to wrap up on your timetable.

In decisions

Completion can tell you when something is finished, but it cannot tell you whether to start the next thing. That belongs to your Type and Authority. Let the choice come from there, and then use the cross to judge whether what you made is done, and to stop adding once it is.

Decide with your Strategy and your inner Authority, then let the cross help you close what you chose. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.

When the Completion cross is misread

"Completion means I must finish everything I start"

The cross is about knowing when something is done, not forcing every project to the end. Gate 32's fourth line here, Right is might, points to what is sound lasting longest, which sometimes means letting a weak start go.

"Limitation in Gate 60 means I am held back"

Gate 60's hexagram is Limitation, but its first line here is Acceptance. In this cross the limit is a frame to work inside, which is where the Channel it completes, 3-60, finds room to change things.

"It is the same as the Left Angle Cross of Limitation"

The four Gates are the same, but the Profile is not. Completion comes only with 4/1, which fixes all four lines and keeps the path in one place. Limitation has the same Gates lived through other people.

Questions to sit with

One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.

  1. Gate 42: What are you growing right now that you also know how to finish?
  2. Gate 32: What from the past year do you trust to still be standing in five more?
  3. Gate 60: What limit have you been fighting that you could start from instead?
  4. Gate 56: Which of your stories is strongest because you worked on it, not because you told it loudly?

Each one holds Gates of this cross or completes a Channel with it.

A Human Design reading is written from your exact chart, so it shows how your four fixed lines work with your Type, Authority and defined Channels, and whether Gates 53, 54, 3 or 11 complete a Channel for you. Nothing is guessed from the cross name alone.

FAQ: Juxtaposition Cross of Completion

What is the Juxtaposition Cross of Completion?

It is a Juxtaposition Incarnation Cross in Human Design made of Gates 42, 32, 60 and 56, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path about seeing things through: growth that lasts, limits that are accepted, and a voice that stimulates.

What are the four lines of the Juxtaposition Cross of Completion?

They are fixed by the 4/1 Profile: 42.4 The Middle Man as the Personality Sun, 32.4 Right is might as the Personality Earth, 60.1 Acceptance as the Design Sun and 56.1 Quality as the Design Earth. Everyone with this cross carries all four.

Which Centers does Completion reach?

Four of them: the Sacral through Gate 42, the Spleen through Gate 32, the Root through Gate 60 and the Throat through Gate 56. Two are motors, one is the Spleen's awareness, and one is the Throat, which is the voice.

Where does Gate 60 sit in Completion?

In the Root, as the Design Sun. Its hexagram is Limitation and its fixed first line is Acceptance. It can complete Channel 3-60 with Gate 3 in the Sacral, if your chart carries that Gate.

How does Gate 56 shape this cross?

Gate 56, Stimulation, is the Design Earth and the only Throat Gate. It completes Channel 11-56, the Channel of Curiosity, with Gate 11 in the Ajna. Its fixed first line, Quality, ties the voice to work done well.

Why does Completion mix three circuits?

Its Gates complete Channels in the Collective, Individual and Tribal circuits. Gates 42 and 56 reach into the Collective, Gate 60 into the Individual and Gate 32 into the Tribal, so the cross has several styles rather than one.
