Right Angle Cross of Laws
The Right Angle Cross of Laws is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 3, 50, 60 and 56: Ordering, Values, Acceptance and Stimulation. It is about how order, limits and shared values take shape, lived through your own experience. Everyone with it has Channel 3-60 and a defined Sacral.
Simple way to think about it: A law is only a limit that people have agreed to live inside. Before the limit there is a mess, and after it there is a way to move. This cross works like that. It finds the rule that makes a tangle workable, then tests whether the rule is one that people can really keep.

Look for the line that reads Right Angle Cross of Laws. The four numbers in brackets are the Gates of your Personality Sun and Earth, then your Design Sun and Earth, for example (3/50 | 60/56). Match them to the rotations below to see which of the four you carry. The chart symbols guide shows where the Sun and Earth sit in the two planet columns.
The Laws cross on the BodyGraph
Both motors of the lower body are in this cross: the Sacral through Ordering and the Root through Acceptance. They are joined by a Channel. Add the Spleen's Values and the Throat's Stimulation, and the four Gates cover instinct, expression and the two engines that power them.

The four rotations of the Laws cross
Find the rotation whose first number matches your Personality Sun. The quarter it sits in gives the rotation its number, 1 to 4.
The Laws 1 (3/50 | 60/56)
With Ordering as your Sun, the cross starts from the need to bring order to something that has none. Values is your conscious Earth, so what you hold dear shapes the order. Acceptance is on the Design side, working with the Sun to complete the Channel, and Stimulation runs quietly beside it.
The Laws 2 (56/60 | 3/50)
Here Stimulation is the Sun, in the quarter of Civilization, so your purpose involves taking in new things and giving them form. Acceptance is your conscious Earth, which asks you to accept limits as you explore. Ordering and Values run on the Design side, setting structure and standards below awareness.
The Laws 3 (50/3 | 56/60)
With Values as your Sun, the quarter of Duality turns the cross toward bonding. You live by what you hold worth keeping, and it shapes who you gather with. Ordering is your conscious Earth, so you give your values a working order. Stimulation and Acceptance run beneath, shaping your curiosity and your limits.
The Laws 4 (60/56 | 50/3)
Acceptance is the conscious Sun in this version, in the quarter of Mutation. Your purpose runs through accepting limits, and the process changes you. Stimulation is your conscious Earth, so curiosity keeps the limits from hardening. Values and Ordering run on the Design side.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 3: Ordering
Gate 3, Ordering, is in the Sacral, the largest motor, and its hexagram is Difficulty at the Beginning. It is the push to make order out of a mess, and its lines run from Synthesis and Immaturity through Survival and Charisma to Surrender. As a Sun, your purpose is shaped by finding order. As an Earth, it adds steady energy to whatever else you do. It completes the Channel of Mutation with Gate 60, Acceptance, in the Root, and in this cross that Channel is always whole.
Gate 50: Values
Gate 50, Values, belongs to the Spleen and has the hexagram The Cauldron. It is about what a group keeps, protects and passes down, and its lines include The Immigrant, Adaptability, Consistency and Leadership. As a Sun, your purpose is tied to what is worth holding on to. As an Earth, it adds a protective instinct to the Sun. Its Channel, Preservation, runs to Gate 27, Caring, in the Sacral, where values are put into care. It belongs to the Tribal circuit, so it is about what a community depends on.
Gate 60: Acceptance
Gate 60, Acceptance, sits in the Root and carries the hexagram Limitation. It accepts that things have limits and works within them until a change becomes possible. Its lines run from Acceptance and Decisiveness to Conservatism, Resourcefulness and Rigidity. As a Sun, your purpose is shaped by limits. As an Earth, it adds restraint to your other Gates. It completes the Channel of Mutation with Gate 3, Ordering, in the Sacral, the other half of this cross. Like Ordering, it is marked in the canon as a Gate of format energy.
Gate 56: Stimulation
Gate 56, Stimulation, is a Throat Gate with the hexagram The Wanderer. It is the voice that draws attention and stirs interest, and its lines run from Quality and Linkage to Alienation, Attracting attention and Caution. As a Sun, your purpose involves sharing ideas and experiences. As an Earth, it gives voice to the other Gates. Its Channel, Curiosity, runs to Gate 11, Ideas, in the Ajna, where a stimulating thought meets a way to express it. Its circuit is the Collective, so the stories it tells are meant to be shared.
Channel 3-60 is yours in every rotation
Gates 3 and 60 are both in the cross, and every rotation carries all four Gates, so everyone with the Cross of Laws has Channel 3-60, the Channel of Mutation, defined. It joins the Root to the Sacral and sits in the Individual circuit, in the Knowing group. The canon calls it a design of energy that fluctuates and initiates, a pulse.
The planets split in a useful way. In every rotation one of the two Gates is on the Personality side and the other on the Design side: rotation 1 has Ordering as the Personality Sun and Acceptance as the Design Sun, while rotation 3 has Ordering as the Personality Earth and Acceptance as the Design Earth. So half of the pulse is conscious and half is not, and you feel the rhythm more than you can explain it.
A Channel that fixes your Type
Channel 3-60 includes the Sacral, and the canon's rule is simple: a Channel that includes the Sacral is a Generated Channel. That means the Sacral is defined for everyone with this cross, so every person with it is a Generator or a Manifesting Generator. There is no exception to that.
This is unusual, because most crosses leave the Type open. For Laws it means your strategy is already set: wait to respond, and let the Sacral answer. The cross then tells you what kind of pulse you are working with. The Sacral renews itself daily, so learning to work with its cycles, rather than demanding the same output every day, is a large part of living this cross well.
Two engines, one instinct, one voice
With the Root and Sacral joined by Channel 3-60, the lower body of the chart has a built-in connection between pressure and life force. Gate 60 sits in the Root, the Center of pressure and the push to begin, and Gate 3 in the Sacral. The canon marks both as Gates of format energy, and with two motors joined, the cross has real energy behind it.
The other two Gates give that drive somewhere to go. Values, in the Spleen, supplies the instinct about what is worth protecting, and it completes a second Sacral Channel through Gate 27. Stimulation, in the Throat, supplies the voice, and its Channel to Gate 11 reaches the Ajna. Engines, instinct and voice make a full set, and the Laws person is rarely short of any of them.
Why the Laws is a Right Angle cross
A Right Angle cross is a personal destiny: the purpose works itself out through your own experience, and other people are not the point. For Laws that is a useful correction. A cross about order and values can sound like a mission to organize others. It is not. You learn what limits and values work for you, and the order you build is first of all your own. The Right Angle goes with seven Profiles: 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/6. If your Profile is one of these, your cross is a Right Angle cross.
Your Sun line: how the line colors this cross
Your Personality Sun has a line as well as a Gate: the number after the dot. 13.4 means Gate 13, Line 4. Open your rotation below and find your line. The line title comes from the Rave I Ching; the sentence after it is how that line tends to color the Laws cross.
Laws 1: Personality Sun in Gate 3, Ordering
| 3.1 Synthesis | Synthesis lets you bring separate pieces together, and your order grows from combining what already exists. |
|---|---|
| 3.2 Immaturity | Immaturity means a new order starts rough, and you give it time to grow up. |
| 3.3 Survival | Survival teaches you to keep going when the new order is shaky, and you learn what holds. |
| 3.4 Charisma | Charisma means your way of ordering things attracts others, so people follow the structure you make. |
| 3.5 Victimization | Victimization warns that the pressure of change can make you feel put upon, so you ask what you can shape. |
| 3.6 Surrender | Surrender is the point where you let the new order take form without forcing it. |
Laws 2: Personality Sun in Gate 56, Stimulation
| 56.1 Quality | Quality makes your stimulating ideas well made, so people trust what you share. |
|---|---|
| 56.2 Linkage | Linkage connects one person or idea to another, and your curiosity builds bridges. |
| 56.3 Alienation | Alienation is the cost of stirring things up, and you learn to live with feeling apart. |
| 56.4 Expediency | Expediency lets you use what stimulates people in the practical moment, and you stay flexible. |
| 56.5 Attracting attention | Attracting attention means your voice is noticed, so you choose carefully what you draw people toward. |
| 56.6 Caution | Caution tempers your enthusiasm, and you check what you share before you say it. |
Laws 3: Personality Sun in Gate 50, Values
| 50.1 The Immigrant | The Immigrant brings new values into a group, and you carry what is worth keeping into unfamiliar places. |
|---|---|
| 50.2 Determination | Determination makes you hold your values steadily, so people know where you stand. |
| 50.3 Adaptability | Adaptability lets your values bend to a new setting without breaking, and that flexibility keeps them alive. |
| 50.4 Corruption | Corruption is the risk of values going stale, and you stay alert to the moment they stop serving anyone. |
| 50.5 Consistency | Consistency means you keep to what you value over time, and others come to rely on it. |
| 50.6 Leadership | Leadership sets the values of a group by example, so what you do matters more than what you say. |
Laws 4: Personality Sun in Gate 60, Acceptance
| 60.1 Acceptance | Acceptance is where change starts, because you stop fighting the limit and begin to work with it. |
|---|---|
| 60.2 Decisiveness | Decisiveness means you choose a path inside the limits and stay on it. |
| 60.3 Conservatism | Conservatism keeps what works, so your changes are careful and rarely wasteful. |
| 60.4 Resourcefulness | Resourcefulness finds a way within the limit, and the limit becomes a source of ideas. |
| 60.5 Leadership | Leadership means you show others how to live within limits, which makes the limits bearable. |
| 60.6 Rigidity | Rigidity is the risk of holding a limit after it has done its work, so you check that it still applies. |
Living the Laws cross
At work
People with the Cross of Laws often work well where there is a mess to organize and the energy to see it through: running a project, setting up a system, writing the rules a team will use, or building a practice from nothing. The Sacral response matters here. Work goes best when you can answer what is put in front of you rather than forcing a plan, and when you have room to adjust the order as you learn what holds.
In relationships
In close relationships, your sense of limits and values can read as rules. Say which ones are truly yours and which are habits you picked up, and ask your partner to do the same. Your energy runs in pulses, so tell the people close to you when you are in a high period and when you need to stop, and invite them to share their own rhythms.
In decisions
Your Sacral is defined, so your body gives a gut response to questions put to it, in the moment and before words. Ask yourself questions with real choices in them, and listen for the response before the mind gets involved. Rules and limits help once the choice is made, but they do not make it.
Use your Strategy of responding and your inner Authority for each choice, and let Laws show you how your sense of order and values develops over time. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Laws cross is misread
"Laws means I should make rules for other people"
"Because Channel 3-60 is fixed, my whole chart is Generated"
"Acceptance means giving up"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 3: What mess in your life is asking for a first bit of order, and what is the smallest step?
- Gate 50: Which of your values are really yours, and which did you inherit and never check?
- Gate 60: What limit are you fighting that you could try accepting for a week?
- Gate 56: What are you curious about right now that you could share with one person?

FAQ: Right Angle Cross of Laws
What is the Right Angle Cross of Laws?
It is one of the Right Angle Incarnation Crosses in Human Design, made of Gates 3, 50, 60 and 56. Its theme is order, values and limits, lived through your own experience, and it always includes Channel 3-60.
Which Laws rotation do I have?
Read the four numbers after the cross name on your chart. 3/50 | 60/56 is Laws 1, 56/60 | 3/50 is Laws 2, 50/3 | 56/60 is Laws 3, and 60/56 | 50/3 is Laws 4. The first number is your Personality Sun.
Is everyone with the Cross of Laws a Generator?
Yes, every time: Channel 3-60 always defines the Sacral, so every Laws chart is a Generator or a Manifesting Generator. That fits the canon, because Channel 3-60 includes the Sacral and defines it for everyone with this cross.
What is the Channel of Mutation?
Channel 3-60 joins Gate 3, Ordering, in the Sacral to Gate 60, Acceptance, in the Root. It belongs to the Individual circuit, and the canon describes it as energy that fluctuates and initiates, like a pulse.
Which other Channels do the Laws Gates complete?
Gate 50, Values, completes the Channel of Preservation with Gate 27, Caring, in the Sacral. Gate 56, Stimulation, completes the Channel of Curiosity with Gate 11, Ideas, in the Ajna. Those partners are not part of the cross.
Why does Gate 56 sit in the Throat but Gate 3 in the Sacral?
Each Gate belongs to one Center. Stimulation belongs to the Throat, so it is about speaking and sharing, while Ordering belongs to the Sacral, so it is about work and life force. The cross draws from both.
