Right Angle Cross of Eden
The Right Angle Cross of Eden is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 6, 11, 12 and 36: Friction, Ideas, Caution and Crisis. Its theme is finding peace by working through conflict, feeling and thought in your own way, lived through your own experience.
Simple way to think about it: Eden is a garden planted after the weather has passed. The storm, the doubt and the clever plans are all still in the soil, and the calm you end up with is something you grow by working with them, not something you were handed at the gate.

Match them to the rotations below to see which of the four you carry. The chart symbols guide shows where the Sun and Earth sit in the two planet columns.
The Eden cross on the BodyGraph
Eden spreads its four Gates over three Centers: Ajna, Solar Plexus and Throat. Two of the four sit in the Solar Plexus, so this cross lives close to feeling, and the other two bring in thought (Ajna) and speech (Throat). Three circuits meet here.

The four rotations of the Eden cross
Find the rotation whose first number matches your Personality Sun. The quarter it sits in gives the rotation its number, 1 to 4.
The Eden 1 (36/6 | 11/12)
With Crisis as your conscious Sun, life tends to test you in ways that end up teaching you something, and Friction under your feet means you meet conflict directly. Ideas and Caution run on the Design side, so your mind and your hesitation work in the background, often noticed by others first.
The Eden 2 (12/11 | 36/6)
Here Caution is the conscious Sun and Ideas the Earth. You live carefully and thoughtfully on purpose, trusting your mind while watching where it leads. Crisis and Friction run beneath that, so strong emotional moments can arrive that you did not plan for.
The Eden 3 (6/36 | 12/11)
With Friction as your Sun, conflict is the thing you consciously work with, and Crisis under your feet keeps pushing you toward growth. Caution and Ideas sit on the Design side, shaping how you hold back and what you think without much effort.
The Eden 4 (11/12 | 6/36)
Ideas lead in this version, with Caution as the conscious Earth. You live through concepts and keep a watchful eye on them. Friction and Crisis run on the Design side, which can make your emotional life feel like something that happens to you before you understand it.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 36: Crisis
Gate 36, Crisis, sits in the Solar Plexus. Its hexagram is The Darkening of the Light, and it is the Gate of going through something hard without a map. As a Sun, you tend to learn about life by living through its rough patches. As an Earth, it adds depth and a feeling for what others are going through. Its Channel is Transitoriness (35-36), which links to Gate 35, Change, in the Throat. That Channel carries emotional experience out through the Throat, where it can be said and acted on.
Gate 6: Friction
Gate 6, Friction, also sits in the Solar Plexus, and its hexagram is Conflict. It is about where people rub against each other, and the six lines run from Retreat to The Peacemaker, so friction can end in distance or in peace. As a Sun, you work consciously with the edges between people. As an Earth, it grounds your purpose in how you handle conflict. Its Channel is Mating (6-59), which runs to Gate 59, Sexuality, in the Sacral. That Channel links emotion to the Sacral's life force and to bonding.
Gate 11: Ideas
Gate 11, Ideas, is in the Ajna and carries the hexagram Peace. It is a Gate of pictures, concepts and possibilities, the mind imagining what could be. As a Sun, you live through ideas and look for the one that brings things together. As an Earth, it gives your emotional or cautious side something to think about. Its Channel is Curiosity (11-56), which links to Gate 56, Stimulation, in the Throat. That is the road by which ideas become stories and questions you can tell other people.
Gate 12: Caution
Gate 12, Caution, is in the Throat, and its hexagram is Standstill. It is the part of you that checks before it speaks, and it knows when to wait, so it can feel like a brake. As a Sun, you live through measured expression and a careful voice. As an Earth, it keeps ideas and feelings from spilling out too soon. Its Channel is Openness (12-22), which links to Gate 22, Openness, in the Solar Plexus. That Channel brings feeling into speech when the mood and the moment line up.
Two of the four Gates sit in the Solar Plexus
Gate 6 and Gate 36 are both Solar Plexus Gates, and they are opposites on the wheel: where one is the Sun, the other is the Earth. The Solar Plexus is the Center of emotions and waves, and it is both a motor and an awareness Center. So half of Eden is about feeling: what happens when people clash (Friction) and what happens when life gets dark before it gets clear (Crisis).
That does not mean every person with this cross has a defined Solar Plexus. A Gate alone does not define a Center; a whole Channel does. What the cross tells you is where your purpose draws its material. Even with an open Solar Plexus, your life tends to hand you emotional situations, and learning to wait before reacting is part of the work. If your own chart shows a defined Solar Plexus, read the page on Emotional Authority.
Mind and feeling in the same cross
Of the three Centers Eden uses, two are awareness Centers: the Ajna, where concepts, opinions and certainty live, and the Solar Plexus, where emotions rise and fall. Awareness Centers are the ones that take in and interpret experience. A cross built on two of them is a cross about making sense of things.
Gate 11 brings the thinking, and Gate 12 sits in the Throat, where caution decides what actually gets said. Gates 6 and 36 bring the feeling. The question this cross keeps asking is how thought and feeling can sit together without one overruling the other. People with Eden often describe being pulled between a clear idea and a mood that disagrees with it, and the cross rewards patience while the two settle.
Three roads to the Throat, three circuits at once
Three of Eden's four Channels reach the Throat: Curiosity (11-56) from the Ajna, Openness (12-22) from the Solar Plexus, and Transitoriness (35-36) from the Solar Plexus. The fourth, Mating (6-59), goes to the Sacral. The Throat is where everything that leaves you passes through, so this cross keeps pushing toward being said and done. Two of those Channels, Openness and Transitoriness, are the kind that connect a motor to the Throat.
The Channels also belong to three circuits. Curiosity and Transitoriness are Collective, Openness is Individual, and Mating is Tribal. Collective is about sharing experience for the group's benefit, Individual brings what is new, one person at a time, and Tribal is about bonds and loyalty. Eden holds all three, so its purpose touches the world, the self and the family circle.
Why the Eden is a Right Angle cross
A Right Angle cross is a personal destiny: the purpose works out through your own experience, and other people are not the point. For Eden that matters, because the theme of peace can sound like something you owe to everyone else. It is yours first. You find your own calm through your own conflicts, and what others take from it comes later. The Right Angle goes with seven Profiles: 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/6. If your Profile is one of these, your cross is a Right Angle cross.
Your Sun line: how the line colors this cross
Your Personality Sun has a line as well as a Gate: the number after the dot. 13.4 means Gate 13, Line 4. Open your rotation below and find your line. The line title comes from the Rave I Ching; the sentence after it is how that line tends to color the Eden cross.

| 11.6 Adaptability | Adaptability means your ideas change as life does, and you let them move on when they have done their job. |
Living the Eden cross
At work
Eden does well where feeling and thinking both have a place. Think of mediation, counseling, editing, teaching, or any role where you listen to a dispute and then find words for it. At work you may notice a pattern: a heated meeting, a pause, and then a clear idea. Give yourself the pause. Rushing a response in the middle of a conflict tends to waste the very insight the cross is built to produce.
In relationships
In close relationships, Eden people often become the ones who feel the friction first and the way through it second. You may find that arguments teach you more about a partner or a friend than easy times do. The risk is withdrawing to avoid conflict, or speaking before the mood has settled. Say less in the heat of it, then come back when you can find words that fit.
In decisions
Big decisions are not made by the cross. When a choice comes at a tense moment, a sense of crisis can push you to decide fast. Eden suggests the opposite: wait, let the feeling move through, then see which idea is still standing.
Let your Type and inner Authority make each decision, and use Eden to understand why your life keeps handing you the conflicts and questions it does. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Eden cross is misread
"Eden means a peaceful, easy life"
"I have a defined Solar Plexus because I have Eden"
"The Design Gates are not really mine"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 36: What is the hardest stretch you have been through, and what did it leave you able to do?
- Gate 6: Where in your life are you in friction right now, and is it asking for distance or for a conversation?
- Gate 11: Which idea of yours is ready to be said out loud to someone you trust?
- Gate 12: What are you holding back right now, and is that caution protecting you or only delaying you?

FAQ: Right Angle Cross of Eden
What is the Right Angle Cross of Eden?
It is one of the Right Angle Incarnation Crosses in Human Design, made of Gates 6, 11, 12 and 36 across the Ajna, Solar Plexus and Throat. Its theme is working with conflict, feeling and thought to find your own peace.
Which Eden rotation do I have?
Read the four numbers after the cross name on your chart. 36/6 | 11/12 is Eden 1, 12/11 | 36/6 is Eden 2, 6/36 | 12/11 is Eden 3, and 11/12 | 6/36 is Eden 4. The first number is your Personality Sun.
Why does Eden have two Solar Plexus Gates?
Gate 6 and Gate 36 are opposites on the wheel and both belong to the Solar Plexus. Whichever one is your Sun, the other is your Earth, so emotion is always part of both sides of the pair.
What does Gate 12 give Eden that the other three Gates do not?
It is the only Eden Gate in the Throat, the Center of expression. Gate 11 is in the Ajna and Gates 6 and 36 are in the Solar Plexus, so Gate 12, Caution, is where the cross can be spoken. Its lines run from The Monk to Metamorphosis, so a voice can be quiet first and changed later.
What is the Teacher line of Gate 11 like inside Eden?
Line 4 of Gate 11, Ideas, is The Teacher. Gate 11 sits in the Ajna, so the teaching is about concepts and opinions, tested by Gates 6 and 36 in the Solar Plexus. No two Eden Gates form a Channel, so the cross fixes neither Type nor Authority; those come from your full chart.
Is the Eden cross about conflict?
Partly. Friction and Crisis are about conflict and difficulty, but Ideas and Caution are about thinking and restraint. The cross is about the way through, using all four together.
