Juxtaposition Cross of The Trickster
The Juxtaposition Cross of The Trickster is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 26, 45, 6 and 36, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path about influence and its limits: a will that shapes what is said, a voice that gathers people, and friction and crisis underneath.
Simple way to think about it: The Trickster is the court jester who can say what no one else can. The role is not to rule or to wreck the court, but to show it what it is doing by turning it sideways for a moment.

The Trickster cross on the BodyGraph
Three Centers hold the four Gates: the Heart, the Throat and the Solar Plexus, which holds two of them. Gates 26 and 45 are the conscious pair and come from the Right Angle Cross of Rulership. Gates 6 and 36, the Design pair, come from the Right Angle Cross of Eden. No two of the four form a Channel, but two of the Channels they can complete are manifesting Channels.

How the Trickster cross is placed
The Trickster (26/45 | 6/36)
The Egoist is your conscious Sun and The Gatherer your conscious Earth, so the Heart's will and the Throat's voice both sit on the side you know. You feel the pull to influence and to speak directly. Friction and Crisis run on the Design side, both in the Solar Plexus, and others may see the emotional weather in you before you do.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 26: The Egoist
Gate 26, The Egoist, is the conscious Sun and sits in the Heart, the Center of willpower and worth. The hexagram of Gate 26 is The Taming Power of the Great, and the Gate sits in the Tribal circuit. It completes Channel 26-44, Surrender, with Gate 44 in the Spleen, a Design of a Transmitter. Its lines run from A bird in the hand to Authority. The fourth, Censorship, is fixed in every chart with this cross: the will chooses what is let through and what is held back.
Gate 45: The Gatherer
Gate 45, The Gatherer, is the conscious Earth and the cross's only Throat Gate, so it is the voice. Its hexagram is Gathering Together, and it belongs to the Tribal circuit. It completes Channel 21-45, Money Line, with Gate 21 in the Heart, a Design of a Materialist and a manifesting Channel. Its lines run from Canvassing to Reconsideration. The fourth, Direction, is fixed here, so the voice that gathers people also points them somewhere.
Gate 6: Friction
Gate 6, Friction, is the Design Sun and sits in the Solar Plexus, an emotional motor and awareness Center. Its hexagram is Conflict, and it belongs to the Tribal circuit. It completes Channel 6-59, Mating, with Gate 59 in the Sacral, a Design Focused on Reproduction. Its first line, Retreat, is fixed in this cross: below awareness, the first response to friction is to step back and let the wave pass.
Gate 36: Crisis
Gate 36, Crisis, is the Design Earth and also sits in the Solar Plexus. Its hexagram is The Darkening of the Light, and it belongs to the Collective circuit. It completes Channel 35-36, Transitoriness, with Gate 35 in the Throat, a Design of a Jack of All Trades and a manifesting Channel. Its first line, Resistance, is fixed here, so the ground of the cross is a refusal to be moved just because things get hard.
Both Design Gates in the Solar Plexus
Gates 6 and 36 are both in the Solar Plexus, the Center of emotions and waves, and both sit on the Design side. The feeling in this cross therefore runs below awareness: moods and tensions come and go without the explanation others expect you to have.
The Solar Plexus is a motor and an awareness Center. With two Gates in it, the emotional field is a large part of the cross even though the conscious side, a will and a voice, is not emotional at all.
Two roads from a motor to the Throat
Gate 45 can complete Channel 21-45 with Gate 21 in the Heart. Gate 36 can complete Channel 35-36 with Gate 35 in the Throat. Both are manifesting Channels, which join a motor directly to the Throat.
Neither is formed by the cross alone. Where one of them is in your chart, the motor can reach the Throat directly, and what you feel or want can be said and done without waiting for another Center. Without them, the voice of the cross, Gate 45, finds another way out.
Will and voice on the conscious side
The conscious pair is a Heart Gate and a Throat Gate. Gate 26 is will and Gate 45 is voice, and both belong to the Tribal circuit; their Channels, 26-44 and 21-45, sit in its Ego group.
Because you know both, you are likely to be aware of your influence: how what you say lands and what you leave out. The fixed lines say what to do with that awareness. Line 4 of Gate 26 is Censorship and line 4 of Gate 45 is Direction: choose what to hold back, and point people somewhere.
Why the Trickster is a Juxtaposition cross
The Trickster stays in one place for life. The will, the voice, the friction and the crisis are fixed, and so are their four lines. A cross with a name like this might seem to promise a shifting role. This one promises the opposite: a single stance, held, from which the tricks, such as they are, are played. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.
The four lines of the Trickster cross
A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Trickster cross carries these four.
| Personality Sun: Gate 26.4 Censorship | Your will decides what gets through and what is held back, and you are aware of doing it. |
|---|---|
| Personality Earth: Gate 45.4 Direction | Your voice gathers people and then points them somewhere, so you tend to lead by naming a direction. |
| Design Sun: Gate 6.1 Retreat | Below awareness your first answer to friction is retreat, and others see you step back before you notice. |
| Design Earth: Gate 36.1 Resistance | Your ground is resistance, so when a crisis comes you do not move just because it is hard. |
Living the Trickster cross
At work
The Trickster suits work that needs someone who can read a room and bring people along: sales, negotiation, community building, teaching, public speaking. The Heart supplies will and the Throat supplies the pitch. The Design side brings emotional weather that colleagues may feel. Know your pattern of stepping back from friction, and tell people when you are doing it.
In relationships
Close to home the cross can look like managing what is said. Censorship is about choosing what to let through, and that can turn into withholding. Share what matters even when it is awkward. The Design side holds two Solar Plexus Gates, so moods may come and go without a clear reason; give them time to pass before explaining them.
In decisions
A will and a voice that both feel certain do not amount to a decision. The Heart and the Throat are loud on the conscious side, and the emotional waves below run quietly. Slow down enough to check with your Type and your inner Authority.
The Trickster describes how you influence and hold your ground; your Type and Authority decide what to do with it. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Trickster cross is misread
"The Trickster means I deceive people"
"Crisis means my life will be in crisis"
"It is the same as the Left Angle Cross of Confrontation"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 26: What do you choose not to say, and why?
- Gate 45: Who do you gather people for, and where are you pointing them?
- Gate 6: What do you step back from first when there is friction?
- Gate 36: What has gone hard lately that you have not let move you?
