Juxtaposition Cross of Possession

The Juxtaposition Cross of Possession is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 45, 26, 36 and 6, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path where voice and will lead, and two Solar Plexus Gates, Crisis and Friction, work beneath them.

Simple way to think about it: Possession is the deed to a house and the weather that comes with it. The paper says what is yours, but only the storms show how well you can hold it.

Look for the line that reads Juxtaposition Cross of Possession. The four numbers in brackets are the Gates of your Personality Sun and Earth, then your Design Sun and Earth, for example (45/26 | 36/6). They match the four Gates below. The chart symbols guide shows where the Sun and Earth sit in the two planet columns.

Three Centers hold the four Gates, and two of them are motors. Gate 45 is in the Throat and Gate 26 in the Heart. Gates 36 and 6 are both in the Solar Plexus. The conscious pair, 45 and 26, is found in the Right Angle Cross of Rulership; the Design pair, 36 and 6, comes from the Right Angle Cross of Eden.

The Gatherer is your conscious Sun and The Egoist your conscious Earth, so the voice and the will are the parts you can see in yourself. Crisis and Friction run on the Design side, both in the Solar Plexus. The emotional weather is real, but it reaches you as something that happens, not something you chose.

The four Gates in plain language

Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.

Gate 45: The Gatherer

Gate 45, The Gatherer, is the conscious Sun and the cross's only Throat Gate. Its hexagram is Gathering Together. It completes Channel 21-45, Money Line, with Gate 21 in the Heart, a manifesting Channel keynoted as a Design of a Materialist. Its fourth line, Direction, is fixed in this cross, so the gathering has a point. What the voice collects is aimed, and people tend to hear where the group is meant to go.

Gate 26: The Egoist

Gate 26, The Egoist, is the conscious Earth and sits in the Heart, the Center of willpower and worth. Its hexagram is The Taming Power of the Great. It completes Channel 26-44, Surrender, with Gate 44 in the Spleen, keynoted as a Design of a Transmitter. Its fourth line, Censorship, is fixed here: the will is selective about what it lets in and what it lets out. The Earth gives the Gatherer's voice some discipline.

Gate 36: Crisis

Gate 36, Crisis, is the Design Sun and sits in the Solar Plexus. Its hexagram is The Darkening of the Light. It completes Channel 35-36, Transitoriness, with Gate 35 in the Throat, a manifesting Channel keynoted as a Jack of All Trades. Its first line, Resistance, is fixed in this cross, so the emotional pressure begins by pushing back. Crisis is the Sun on the Design side, which means the difficulty feels like something that finds you.

Gate 6: Friction

Gate 6, Friction, is the Design Earth and the cross's second Solar Plexus Gate. Its hexagram is Conflict. It completes Channel 6-59, Mating, with Gate 59 in the Sacral, keynoted as a Design focused on reproduction. Its first line, Retreat, is fixed here, so the Earth knows how to step out of a clash before it grows. It grounds the cross in the idea that not every disagreement needs to be won.

The Throat and the Heart on the conscious side

Gate 45 is in the Throat and Gate 26 in the Heart, and both are conscious. The Gatherer is the voice, the Egoist is the will, and the two pair up through Gate 21 and Channel 21-45, the Money Line: Gate 45 completes it from the Throat end and Gate 21 from the Heart.

Both Gates belong to the Tribal circuit's Ego group, which is about support among the people closest to you and about holding resources for them. A person with this cross may know early what they want to keep, and say so.

Both Design Gates in the Solar Plexus

The Solar Plexus is emotions and waves, and it is both a motor and an awareness Center. Here it holds both Design Gates, Crisis and Friction, which are opposites on the wheel. One is the Sun and the other the Earth.

Nothing in the cross says your Solar Plexus is defined. It says that this is the Center the cross draws on below the surface, and that it has two Gates, with fixed first lines of Resistance and Retreat. Pushing back and stepping back are the two ways it learns to handle trouble.

Two manifesting Channels to the Throat

Both 21-45 and 35-36 are manifesting Channels, and this cross can complete either: Gate 45 with Gate 21, and Gate 36 with Gate 35. One runs from the Heart to the Throat and the other from the Solar Plexus to the Throat.

Each joins a motor to the voice, so what the Heart wants or the Solar Plexus feels can be said and done. If neither is in your chart, you can still feel the pull, but the way out has to come through someone else.

Why the Possession is a Juxtaposition cross

Possession sets what is yours before the story begins. The voice, the will and the emotional weather arrive as a set, and none of them is going to be swapped out for another. The fixed fate means no rehearsal: you learn to hold the same things better rather than to hold different ones. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.

The four lines of the Possession cross

A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Possession cross carries these four.

Personality Sun: Gate 45.4 DirectionYour voice has a direction, so the group hears where it is going, not only what is being gathered.
Personality Earth: Gate 26.4 CensorshipYour will is selective, which means you choose carefully what is allowed in and what is allowed out.
Design Sun: Gate 36.1 ResistanceBelow awareness your emotional pressure begins as resistance, and trouble may seem to find you.
Design Earth: Gate 6.1 RetreatYour ground is the knowing retreat, the habit of leaving a clash before it hardens into a fight.

Living the Possession cross

At work

People with Possession often do well where a voice and a decision are both needed: managing resources, running a small organization, negotiating, fundraising, community leadership. They tend to know what belongs to whom and to say it. The risk is the emotional season. Do not make large commitments in the middle of a wave, and do not hold the room alone when the Solar Plexus is loud.

In relationships

At home, the word possession can sound controlling. The cross is not about owning people. It is about what you hold and what you protect: the home, the family, a few close ties. Gate 6 helps you step back in an argument. Gate 26 makes you careful about what you let in. Say plainly what is yours to keep, and ask what is theirs.

In decisions

Voice and will are not Authority. The Solar Plexus carries waves, and no choice made at the crest of one is fully yours yet.

Choose by your Type and inner Authority, then use the cross to see what you are actually holding on to. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.

When the Possession cross is misread

"Possession means I want to own things or people"

The cross is not named after a Gate, and none of its hexagrams or lines is about ownership. Its fixed lines are Direction, Censorship, Resistance and Retreat, which describe aim, selection and defense.

"Crisis means my life will be in crisis"

Gate 36 is the Design Sun, a Solar Plexus Gate named Crisis. It describes where emotional pressure shows up, with Resistance as its first line. It is a name for a Gate, not a forecast.

"It is the same as the Left Angle Cross of Confrontation"

The four Gates are identical. The Profile is not. Possession comes only with 4/1 and fixes all four lines, while Confrontation is lived with 5/1, 5/2, 6/2 or 6/3 and worked out through other people.

Questions to sit with

One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.

  1. Gate 45: What are you gathering people around right now, and where is it headed?
  2. Gate 26: What do you let in, and what do you keep out, and is that deliberate?
  3. Gate 36: Where does pressure find you before you have time to prepare?
  4. Gate 6: What disagreement could you walk away from today without losing anything?

Each one holds Gates of this cross or completes a Channel with it.

A Human Design reading is written from your exact chart, so it shows how your four fixed lines work with your Type, Authority and defined Channels, and which of the Channels these Gates can complete are really yours. Nothing is guessed from the cross name alone.

FAQ: Juxtaposition Cross of Possession

What is the Juxtaposition Cross of Possession?

It is a Juxtaposition Incarnation Cross in Human Design made of Gates 45, 26, 36 and 6, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path with the Throat and Heart Gates on the conscious side and two Solar Plexus Gates on the Design side.

What are the four lines of the Juxtaposition Cross of Possession?

They are fixed by the 4/1 Profile: 45.4 Direction as the Personality Sun, 26.4 Censorship as the Personality Earth, 36.1 Resistance as the Design Sun, and 6.1 Retreat as the Design Earth. Everyone with this cross carries all four.

Where does Possession reach the Sacral?

Only through a partner. Its Gates are in the Throat, Heart and Solar Plexus, none in the Sacral. Gate 6 can reach the Sacral through Channel 6-59, Mating, with Gate 59, but that only happens if Gate 59 is active in your chart as well.

In what circuits do the Possession Gates sit?

Gates 45, 26 and 6 sit in the Tribal circuit and Gate 36 in the Collective circuit. The Gates 45 and 26 belong to the Ego group, and Gate 6 to the Defense group.

Is the Solar Plexus defined for everyone with Possession?

No. The cross holds two Solar Plexus Gates, but a Center is defined only by a complete Channel. The Heart, the smallest motor, and the Solar Plexus, a motor and an awareness Center, are defined by the Channels you complete.

Is a Heart to Throat Channel possible within Possession?

Gate 45 sits in the Throat and can complete Channel 21-45, Money Line, with Gate 21 in the Heart. Gate 21 is not part of this cross, so it has to come from the rest of your chart.
