Juxtaposition Cross of Influence
The Juxtaposition Cross of Influence is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 31, 41, 24 and 44, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path of leading by voice: speaking up, feeling the pressure to begin, and learning what to check and what to watch for.
Simple way to think about it: Influence is the current under the boat. It does not announce itself or steer, but everything on the water drifts the way it runs, and anyone who learns to read it reaches the far shore with less effort.

Look for the line that reads Juxtaposition Cross of Influence. The four numbers in brackets are the Gates of your Personality Sun and Earth, then your Design Sun and Earth, for example (31/41 | 24/44). They match the four Gates below. The chart symbols guide shows where the Sun and Earth sit in the two planet columns.
The Influence cross on the BodyGraph
Four Centers hold the four Gates. Gate 31 sits in the Throat and Gate 41 in the Root, and on the Design side Gate 24 is in the Ajna and Gate 44 in the Spleen. The conscious pair, 31 and 41, is the pair the Right Angle Cross of The Unexpected carries; the Design pair, 24 and 44, comes from the Right Angle Cross of The Four Ways.

How the Influence cross is placed
The Influence (31/41 | 24/44)
Influence is your conscious Sun and Contraction your conscious Earth, so your voice and the pressure beneath it are the part you know directly. Rationalization and Alertness run on the Design side, which means the way you reason things through and the way you sense what is coming may show to others before they show to you.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 31: Influence
Gate 31, Influence, is the conscious Sun, and the cross carries its name. It sits in the Throat, so it is the cross's only Gate in a voice Center, and its hexagram is also called Influence. It completes Channel 7-31 with Gate 7 in the G Center, the Channel of The Alpha, in the Collective circuit. Its fourth line, Intent, is fixed in this cross, so the voice carries a purpose and people hear what you are aiming at, not only what you say.
Gate 41: Contraction
Gate 41, Contraction, is the conscious Earth. It sits in the Root and its hexagram is Decrease. It completes Channel 30-41 with Gate 30 in the Solar Plexus, the Channel of Recognition, in the Collective circuit. It grounds the cross in the pressure to begin: wanting something new enough to narrow down to it. Its fourth line, Correction, is the one every Influence chart carries, so the pressure comes with an instinct to adjust and put things right as you go.
Gate 24: Rationalization
Gate 24, Rationalization, is the Design Sun, lived without thinking. It sits in the Ajna and its hexagram is The Return. Gate 61 in the Head would make Channel 24-61, Awareness, an Individual circuit Channel. Its first line, The sin of omission, is fixed here, so the habit below awareness is going back over a matter and noticing what was left out. That is often what makes your influence feel thorough to other people.
Gate 44: Alertness
Gate 44, Alertness, is the Design Earth. It sits in the Spleen and its hexagram is Coming to Meet. Its Channel is 26-44, Surrender, which needs Gate 26 in the Heart and belongs to the Tribal circuit. It grounds the cross in sensing what is arriving. Its first line, Conditions, is the line every Influence chart carries, so the alertness attaches to the circumstances around a thing: who is involved, what it is tied to, and what has to be true for it to work.
A voice standing on a pressure Center
Gate 31 is in the Throat, where everything that leaves you passes through, and Gate 41 is in the Root, the Center of pressure and drive: adrenaline, stress and the push to begin. In this cross both are on the Personality side, so what you say and the urgency behind it are the two things you can feel at work.
They do not form a Channel with each other. Gate 31 reaches toward the G Center and Gate 41 toward the Solar Plexus, so voice and urgency can feel like two separate things you have to connect on purpose. Speaking before the pressure has settled is the common slip.
What was left out and what it depends on
The Design side puts Gate 24 in the Ajna and Gate 44 in the Spleen, and their fixed first lines are The sin of omission and Conditions. Both lines are about the edges of a matter: what has been left out of it, and what it depends on.
The Ajna is the Center of concepts, so it is the part that spots a gap in an account. The Spleen speaks once and in the present tense, so it is the part that senses the circumstances. A voice that has checked both is harder to argue with, even when you cannot say how you checked.
One motor, and it is a pressure motor
The Root is the only motor among the cross's own Gates, and it is a pressure Center as well. So the drive built into Influence comes in pushes rather than at an even pace: pressure rises, the push to begin follows, and the voice goes out with it.
Gate 41 can complete Channel 30-41 with the Solar Plexus, another motor, if your chart carries Gate 30. That would add emotional drive to the pressure. Without it, the cross leans on the rest of your chart to sustain what the Root starts.
Why the Influence is a Juxtaposition cross
Influence stays in one chair. The voice does not pass the Sun to another Gate, and the Design pair keeps checking in the background. The point of a fixed fate here is consistency: people come to know what your influence is like and rely on it, because it does not change shape from year to year. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.
The four lines of the Influence cross
A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Influence cross carries these four.
| Personality Sun: Gate 31.4 Intent | Your voice carries a purpose, and people hear what you are aiming at as clearly as the words you use. |
|---|---|
| Personality Earth: Gate 41.4 Correction | The pressure to begin comes with an instinct to adjust as you go, putting things right while they are still in motion. |
| Design Sun: Gate 24.1 The sin of omission | Below awareness you go back over a matter and notice what was left out, which is why your input feels thorough. |
| Design Earth: Gate 44.1 Conditions | Your alertness attaches to circumstances, sensing who is involved and what a thing depends on before it begins. |
Living the Influence cross
At work
People with Influence do well wherever a voice moves others: teaching, writing, management, public speaking, advocacy. The cross works best when the message has been checked first for what it leaves out and what it depends on. Watch the pressure: starting quickly is easy, and your voice can set others in motion before they have the clarity you have.
In relationships
At home, your words carry more weight than you may intend, and a passing remark can land as a decision. Say plainly when you are thinking aloud and when you are announcing something, and ask what the other person heard. Your habit of noticing what was left out is a gift in conversation, if you do it with them and not about them.
In decisions
Having a voice is not the same as having made the decision. The Throat expresses; it does not choose.
Choose through your Type and your inner Authority, then use the cross to say what you chose clearly and in a way others can follow. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Influence cross is misread
"Influence means I am meant to persuade people"
"The sin of omission means I always leave things out"
"It is the Left Angle Cross of The Alpha"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 31: What are you aiming at when you speak, and does the person listening know?
- Gate 41: What do you most want to begin right now, and what is the pressure telling you to narrow down?
- Gate 24: What did you leave out of your last big explanation, and why?
- Gate 44: Which circumstances around the plan you are making have you not yet looked at?

FAQ: Juxtaposition Cross of Influence
What is the Juxtaposition Cross of Influence?
It is a Juxtaposition Incarnation Cross in Human Design made of Gates 31, 41, 24 and 44, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path of leading by voice, with a pressure to begin and a habit of checking underneath.
What are the four lines of the Juxtaposition Cross of Influence?
The 4/1 Profile fixes them: 31.4 Intent as the Personality Sun, 41.4 Correction as the Personality Earth, 24.1 The sin of omission as the Design Sun, and 44.1 Conditions as the Design Earth. Every chart with this cross carries all four.
Is the Throat defined if I have Influence?
Not by the cross alone. Gate 31 sits in the Throat, but it needs Gate 7 in the G Center to complete Channel 7-31. Whether the Throat is defined depends on your whole chart.
Which Gate in Influence carries the pressure?
Gate 41, the conscious Earth. It sits in the Root, which is both a motor and a pressure Center, and it can complete Channel 30-41 with Gate 30 in the Solar Plexus.
Who notices the Design side of Influence?
Other people may see it before you do. Gate 24 with its fixed first line, The sin of omission, tends to look like thoroughness, and Gate 44 with its first line, Conditions, like attention to circumstances, before you have named either yourself.
How many Centers does Influence touch?
Four: the Throat, the Root, the Ajna and the Spleen. The G Center, the Solar Plexus, the Head and the Heart come in only if your chart carries the partner Gates 7, 30, 61 or 26.
