Juxtaposition Cross of Fantasy
The Juxtaposition Cross of Fantasy is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 41, 31, 44 and 24, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path about starting from imagination: a pressure to begin, a voice that carries influence, and a mind that rehearses what comes next.
Simple way to think about it: Fantasy is the architect's sketchbook. Every drawing is a building that does not exist yet, and the skill is not in drawing more of them but in knowing which one is worth taking to the site.

How the Fantasy cross is placed
The Fantasy (41/31 | 44/24)
Contraction is your conscious Sun and Influence your conscious Earth, so the Root and the Throat are on the side you know: the pressure to begin, and the voice to put it into the world. Alertness and Rationalization sit on the Design side. The instinct that notices and the mind that explains run underneath, often before you can say what they are.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 41: Contraction
Gate 41, Contraction, is the conscious Sun and sits in the Root. Its hexagram is Decrease. It completes Channel 30-41, the Channel of Recognition, with Gate 30 in the Solar Plexus, a Collective Channel in the Sensing stream. As a Sun it is the starting pressure of the cross: the Root's push to begin, focused down to a single wish. Its fourth line, Correction, is the one every Fantasy chart carries here. The push is open to being adjusted, and does not have to be right the first time.
Gate 31: Influence
Gate 31, Influence, is the conscious Earth and the cross's only Throat Gate. Its hexagram is also Influence. It completes Channel 7-31, The Alpha, with Gate 7 in the G Center, a Collective Channel that reaches the Throat. As an Earth it grounds the cross in a voice that others may follow. The fourth line, Intent, is fixed here, so the voice is shaped by what you mean to do, and the value of what you say depends on the purpose behind it.
Gate 44: Alertness
Gate 44, Alertness, is the Design Sun and sits in the Spleen. Its hexagram is Coming to Meet. It completes Channel 26-44, the Channel of Surrender, with Gate 26 in the Heart, a Tribal Channel in the Ego group. Lived without thinking, it is an instinct that notices what is arriving before it is fully there. The Spleen speaks once, in the present. Its first line, Conditions, is fixed in this cross: the alertness begins by reading the circumstances.
Gate 24: Rationalization
Gate 24, Rationalization, is the Design Earth and sits in the Ajna. Its hexagram is The Return. It completes Channel 24-61, the Channel of Awareness, with Gate 61 in the Head, an Individual Channel in the Knowing stream. It grounds the cross in a mind that goes back over things and tries to explain them. Its first line, The sin of omission, is the one every chart with this cross carries: the habit is to notice what was left out and to start there.
Instinct and mind in the same cross
Two of the four Gates sit in awareness Centers: Gate 44 in the Spleen and Gate 24 in the Ajna. The Spleen is instinct and fear, in the present tense only. The Ajna is mental awareness, with concepts, opinions and certainty. In Fantasy, both are on the Design side.
The instinct reads what is arriving, and the mind explains what has been. Neither belongs to the conscious Sun and Earth, so you may notice their results before you notice the work they are doing.
The base and the voice, side by side
The conscious pair is Gate 41 in the Root and Gate 31 in the Throat. The Root is pressure and drive, the push to begin. The Throat is where everything that leaves you passes through. Together they describe an impulse and its way out.
But the canon is clear that the Root never touches the Throat directly. These two Gates complete separate Channels, 30-41 and 7-31, each with its own partner. The impulse and the voice need other Gates to connect, and the cross does not supply them.
Four Gates, four partners, no Channel of its own
None of the four Gates form a Channel with each other. Each one reaches outward: Gate 41 to Gate 30, Gate 31 to Gate 7, Gate 44 to Gate 26 and Gate 24 to Gate 61. So the cross does not define any Channel for everyone who carries it.
It also spans the Collective, Individual and Tribal circuits. Gates 41 and 31 lean to the Collective, Gate 24 to the Individual and Gate 44 to the Tribal. What the cross does with them depends on which partners show up in your own chart.
Why the Fantasy is a Juxtaposition cross
Fantasy has no alternate version. The four lines are the same for everyone who holds it, and with the 4/1 Profile there is no room for a different role. That gives the cross a particular stability: the impulse to imagine and begin is a fixed trait, and the work is to give it something real to build on. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.
The four lines of the Fantasy cross
A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Fantasy cross carries these four.
| Personality Sun: Gate 41.4 Correction | The wish to begin stays open to correction, so a first attempt does not have to be right to be worth making. |
|---|---|
| Personality Earth: Gate 31.4 Intent | Your voice is shaped by what you mean to do, so purpose does more for your influence than polish does. |
| Design Sun: Gate 44.1 Conditions | Below awareness your instinct starts by reading the circumstances before it reacts to what is arriving. |
| Design Earth: Gate 24.1 The sin of omission | Your mind tends to notice what was left out, and that gap is often where its best questions begin. |
Living the Fantasy cross
At work
People with Fantasy often do well in roles that start with an idea and need a voice to carry it: design, product work, writing, teaching, pitching. The cross supplies the first spark and a way to explain it. It is less suited to routine upkeep. The risk is a pile of good starts, so it helps to pair the imaginative side with someone, or something, that finishes. Ask what is missing from a plan before you add to it.
In relationships
In close relationships the cross can look like someone who is always picturing how things could be. That can be warm and hopeful, and can also leave a partner feeling compared with a picture. It helps to tell the difference between a vision you are sharing and a standard you are holding. The Spleen reads the present, so it is often right about the room.
In decisions
Fantasy is rich in starts and thin on verdicts. The Root, the Throat, the Spleen and the Ajna can all supply an opinion, and none of them is your Authority by default. Take the decision to your Type's Strategy and your own Authority, then use the cross to see what the plan has left out.
Choose with your Strategy and your inner Authority, then bring the cross in to correct and refine what you chose. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Fantasy cross is misread
"Fantasy means my ideas are not real"
"Four Centers means I am fully connected inside"
"It is the same as the Left Angle Cross of The Alpha"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 41: What is the next thing you want to start, and what would correct it if you were wrong?
- Gate 31: What do you actually intend to do with the influence you have?
- Gate 44: What is arriving in your life right now that you can sense before it is here?
- Gate 24: What was left out of your last plan, and does it change the plan?

FAQ: Juxtaposition Cross of Fantasy
What is the Juxtaposition Cross of Fantasy?
It is a Juxtaposition Incarnation Cross in Human Design made of Gates 41, 31, 44 and 24, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path about starting from imagination, with a voice that influences and a mind that revisits what was missed.
What are the four lines of the Juxtaposition Cross of Fantasy?
They are fixed by the 4/1 Profile: 41.4 Correction as the Personality Sun, 31.4 Intent as the Personality Earth, 44.1 Conditions as the Design Sun and 24.1 The sin of omission as the Design Earth. Everyone with this cross carries all four.
Why are two of Fantasy's Gates in awareness Centers?
Gate 44 is in the Spleen and Gate 24 is in the Ajna, and both are Design Gates. The Spleen reads the present through instinct, and the Ajna works with concepts and opinions, so the cross pairs a quiet instinct with a mind that explains.
What if none of Fantasy's partner Gates are in my chart?
Each of the four Gates stays active, but a Channel is defined only when both of its Gates are. Fantasy needs Gate 30, 7, 26 or 61 from your own chart to complete 30-41, 7-31, 26-44 or 24-61, so it fixes no Type or Authority.
Where does Fantasy sit among the circuits?
Its Gates can complete Channels in three circuits: 30-41 and 7-31 are Collective, 26-44 is Tribal and 24-61 is Individual. None is defined by the cross alone.
What does the Root contribute to this cross?
Gate 41, Contraction, is the Personality Sun and the only Root Gate. The Root is the pressure Center, so it gives the cross its push to begin. Its fixed line, Correction, keeps that push open to adjustment.
