How the Empowering cross is placed

The Empowering (14/8 | 59/55)

Power Skills is your conscious Sun and Contribution your conscious Earth, so the skill leads and the voice supports it. You know the engine and the horn well. Sexuality and Spirit run on the Design side, which is why others may sense a drive and a sensitivity in you that you do not always claim.

Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.

Gate 14: Power Skills

Gate 14, Power Skills, is the conscious Sun and sits in the Sacral, the largest motor. Its hexagram is Possession in Great Measure. Paired with Gate 2 in the G Center it would form Channel 2-14, The Beat. Its lines run from Money isn't everything and Management to Arrogance and Humility. The fourth, Security, is fixed in this cross, so the lead skill comes with a need for something solid under it. Power here is not shown off. It is the capacity to be relied on, and that is what gives the rest of the cross its footing.

Gate 8: Contribution

Gate 8, Contribution, is the conscious Earth and the only Gate in the Throat. Its hexagram is Holding Together. It completes Channel 1-8, Inspiration, with Gate 1 in the G Center. Its lines move from Honesty and Service to Dharma and Communion, and the fourth, Respect, is the one always present. Standing under the Sun, the voice is the ground the skill walks on: what you say is expected to show regard for the person hearing it, and that regard is what lets the skill be trusted.

Gate 59: Sexuality

Gate 59, Sexuality, is the Design Sun, lived without thinking, and it is the cross's second Sacral Gate. Its hexagram is Dispersion. It completes Channel 6-59, Mating, with Gate 6 in the Solar Plexus. Its lines run from The pre-emptive strike to The one night stand. The first, The pre-emptive strike, is fixed here, so underneath the conscious skill sits a habit of acting first and asking later. Others may read it as confidence, even when you do not feel it.

Gate 55: Spirit

Gate 55, Spirit, is the Design Earth and the cross's only Solar Plexus Gate. Its hexagram is Abundance. It completes Channel 39-55, Emoting, with Gate 39 in the Root. Its lines move from Cooperation and Distrust to Growth and Selfishness. Cooperation, the first, is fixed in this cross, so the emotional ground of the design is willingness to work with other people. That willingness is rarely something you decide in the moment. It tends to rise and ebb with your own mood.

The Sacral in the Sun position

The Sacral is the Center of life force and work, the largest motor, and it renews daily. In this cross it holds the conscious Sun. The thing you know most clearly about yourself is that you have energy to put into skilled work, and a sense of how much of it you have.

The cross does not make you a Generator or a Manifesting Generator, because none of its Gates pair into a Channel on their own. But a Sun in the Sacral makes it worth paying attention to the Sacral's yes and no, whatever your Type turns out to be.

One Sacral Gate in each half of the design

Gate 14 is conscious and Gate 59 is Design, so the Sacral shows up on both sides of the chart. The conscious side is skill: Channel 2-14 with Gate 2 in the G Center. The Design side is the habit of moving first: Channel 6-59 with Gate 6 in the Solar Plexus.

The two Channels belong to different circuits, 2-14 to the Individual and 6-59 to the Tribal. That is a small tension worth knowing about: the conscious skill is a personal gift, and the unconscious drive belongs to bonds with other people.

A voice as the ground of the conscious side

Here the Throat Gate does not take the Sun. It takes the Earth, the ground under the Sun's feet. Gate 8, with its fixed fourth line Respect, supplies the way the skill is spoken for. Without it, the skill works but has no good way to be shared.

That makes this cross quieter than one with a Throat Sun. Your voice is something you are likely to find through doing: show the work, and the words follow. The Solar Plexus, with Gate 55 as the Design Earth, adds a mood that colors how willing you feel to speak at all.

Why the Empowering is a Juxtaposition cross

Being a Juxtaposition cross, Empowering gives you one position and one set of four lines, and it keeps them. The Sacral stays in front and the voice stays behind it. The work is to learn the engine's rhythm so well that the skill is used when it is wanted, not just when it is available. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.

The four lines of the Empowering cross

A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Empowering cross carries these four.

At work

This cross fits work that rewards a dependable skill: trades, operations, coaching, any role where being relied on is the point. The voice supports, so you may find explaining your work comes second to doing it. Give yourself a plan for the days when feeling is low and the engine still has to run.

In relationships

People close to you may experience you as the one who handles things. The risk is that acting first, with a feeling of confidence that may not match what you feel inside, lets you take on more than anyone asked. Pause long enough to hear what the other person wants, and let your Authority check your own yes.

In decisions

Skill and drive are strong in this cross, but strength is not direction. The cross fixes neither Type nor Authority, since its Gates do not form a Channel together. Decide from the whole chart, using the Type and Authority it shows.
