Right Angle Cross of Contagion
The Right Angle Cross of Contagion is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 30, 29, 14 and 8: Recognition of Feelings, Saying Yes, Power Skills and Contribution. Its theme is commitment that spreads: what you feel, agree to and give catches on with others, lived through your own experience.
Simple way to think about it: Think of a laugh that starts with one person and passes across a crowded room. Nobody planned it, and nobody can say exactly who it belongs to by the end. Contagion works like that: what you feel and what you commit to travels further than you expect.

The Contagion cross on the BodyGraph
Contagion has a Gate in each of three Centers: the Solar Plexus, the Sacral (twice) and the Throat. Look at where the Channels go, though. Three of the four lead straight into the G Center, the Center of identity, and only one leads elsewhere. The cross spends most of its reach on the G.

The four rotations of the Contagion cross
Find the rotation whose first number matches your Personality Sun. The quarter it sits in gives the rotation its number, 1 to 4.
The Contagion 1 (30/29 | 14/8)
With Recognition of Feelings as your conscious Sun, the theme is knowing what you feel and what you want, and Saying Yes is the Earth that grounds it. Power Skills and Contribution run on the Design side, so your talent and what you give may show to others before you name them.
The Contagion 2 (8/14 | 30/29)
Here Contribution is the conscious Sun and Power Skills the Earth. You know what you have to offer and what it takes to offer it. Recognition of Feelings and Saying Yes run on the Design side, so your commitments and desires can carry you before you have decided.
The Contagion 3 (29/30 | 8/14)
With Saying Yes as your Sun, the theme is commitment: what you agree to, and how fully. Recognition of Feelings is the Earth. Contribution and Power Skills on the Design side make giving and skill feel like second nature.
The Contagion 4 (14/8 | 29/30)
Power Skills lead in this version, with Contribution as the conscious Earth. You live knowingly through mastery and giving. Saying Yes and Recognition of Feelings run beneath that, and others may see your desires and commitments as natural to you.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 30: Recognition of Feelings
Gate 30, Recognition of Feelings, sits in the Solar Plexus. Its hexagram is The Clinging Fire, and it is the Gate of feeling that wants something. Its lines run from Composure to Enforcement. As a Sun, your consciousness is built around desire and what you are willing to go through for it. As an Earth, it adds heat and longing to whatever else you are doing. Its Channel is Recognition (30-41), which links to Gate 41, Contraction, in the Root. That Channel is a design of focused energy, and Gate 41 belongs to the Unexpected cross.
Gate 29: Saying Yes
Gate 29, Saying Yes, sits in the Sacral, and its hexagram is The Abysmal. It is the Gate of agreeing: of going in, whole, to something you have said yes to. Its lines begin with The Draftee and end with Confusion. As a Sun, your life is shaped by what you commit to. As an Earth, it adds persistence and the habit of following through. Its Channel is Discovery (29-46), which links to Gate 46 in the G Center. That Channel is about succeeding where others fail.
Gate 14: Power Skills
Gate 14, Power Skills, sits in the Sacral, and its hexagram is Possession in Great Measure. It is the Gate of resources, skill and the energy to apply them. Its lines move from Money isn't everything to Humility. As a Sun, you live consciously as someone with abilities worth building. As an Earth, it gives your other themes the means to carry them out. Its Channel is The Beat (2-14), which links to Gate 2, the Direction of the Self, in the G Center. That Channel is a design of being a keeper of keys.
Gate 8: Contribution
Gate 8, Contribution, sits in the Throat, and its hexagram is Holding Together. It is the voice of what you give, said in your own way, and its lines run from Honesty to Communion. As a Sun, you live consciously as someone who has something to contribute, and you want it to be real. As an Earth, it gives your other themes a way to be shared. Its Channel is Inspiration (1-8), which links to Gate 1, Self-Expression, in the G Center. That Channel is a design of a creative role model.
Three of the four Channels end in the G Center
Look at where Contagion's Channels go. Gate 8 reaches the G Center through Inspiration (1-8), Gate 14 through The Beat (2-14), and Gate 29 through Discovery (29-46). All three end in the G Center, the Center of identity, direction and love. Only Gate 30 points elsewhere, to the Root through Recognition (30-41).
The G Center's other Gates belong to two other crosses. Gates 1 and 2 are part of The Sphinx, and Gate 46 is part of The Vessel of Love. So Contagion is an outer cross whose Gates reach inward. What you feel, can do and give is meant to arrive at the question of who you are, and the Channels are how it gets there.
Two Sacral Gates and the work of saying yes
Gate 14 and Gate 29 are both Sacral Gates, and they are the two that deal with work. Power Skills is the capacity to build a skill and apply it. Saying Yes is the willingness to commit. Both are Sacral energy, the life force that does its best work when it is responding to something.
That gives Contagion a clear risk: a yes given too fast. The cross can look like readiness for anything, but its two Sacral Gates carry real weight, and a yes that your body did not give can cost you later. Having Sacral Gates does not make the Sacral defined, so check your Type and Strategy on your own chart, then say yes only to what you can see yourself finishing.
Feeling, doing and speaking across three Centers
Contagion's four Gates sit in the Solar Plexus, the Sacral and the Throat, which are two motors and the voice. The Solar Plexus is also an awareness Center, so this is the only awareness Center in the cross, and it is a Center of waves. Feeling is where this cross begins, the Sacral does the work, and the Throat says what you give.
Two circuits are involved. Gates 29 and 30 lead to Collective Channels, which are about shared experience, and Gates 8 and 14 lead to Individual Channels, which carry mutation, what is new arriving through one person.
Why the Contagion is a Right Angle cross
A Right Angle cross is a personal destiny: the purpose works out through your own experience, and other people are not the point. For Contagion that matters, because a cross named for spreading can sound like it exists to affect others. It does not. You commit, feel and give for your own reasons first, and the spreading is what follows. The Right Angle goes with seven Profiles: 1/3, 1/4, 2/4, 2/5, 3/5, 3/6, 4/6. If your Profile is one of these, your cross is a Right Angle cross.
Your Sun line: how the line colors this cross
Your Personality Sun has a line as well as a Gate: the number after the dot. 13.4 means Gate 13, Line 4. Open your rotation below and find your line. The line title comes from the Rave I Ching; the sentence after it is how that line tends to color the Contagion cross.

Living the Contagion cross
At work
Contagion people do well in work where skill, commitment and giving meet: building a craft, running a project, teaching, or serving a community. Your enthusiasm travels, so teams often follow your lead without being asked. Choose work you can say yes to with your whole body, and keep room to refuse the rest.
In relationships
In close relationships you may find your moods and commitments spread to those around you, for good or ill. A partner may take on your excitement, or your tiredness. Name what you are feeling before it fills the room, and be clear about what you are agreeing to. A yes in love is a real thing for this cross.
In decisions
The cross shows how commitment works for you, not what to commit to. When a request arrives, wait for your own response before agreeing, and notice whether the yes feels like energy or obligation.
Use your Type and your inner Authority for each choice, and let Contagion show you what your yeses have spread. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Contagion cross is misread
"Contagion means I affect everyone around me"
"Saying Yes means I should agree to things"
"The cross gives me a defined Sacral"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 30: What do you want right now that you have not yet admitted to anyone?
- Gate 29: What did you last say yes to, and did it feel like energy or obligation?
- Gate 14: Which of your skills deserves more of your time than it is getting?
- Gate 8: What could you give this week that only you could give?

FAQ: Right Angle Cross of Contagion
What is the Right Angle Cross of Contagion?
It is one of the Right Angle Incarnation Crosses in Human Design, made of Gates 30, 29, 14 and 8 across the Solar Plexus, Sacral and Throat. Its theme is feeling, commitment, skill and giving that spreads.
Which Contagion rotation do I have?
Read the four numbers after the cross name on your chart. 30/29 | 14/8 is Contagion 1, 8/14 | 30/29 is Contagion 2, 29/30 | 8/14 is Contagion 3, and 14/8 | 29/30 is Contagion 4. The first number is your Personality Sun.
Why do three Contagion Channels end in the G Center?
Gate 8 completes Inspiration (1-8), Gate 14 completes The Beat (2-14), and Gate 29 completes Discovery (29-46). Each partner Gate is in the G Center, and belongs to The Sphinx or The Vessel of Love.
What does the Gate of Saying Yes mean in Contagion?
Gate 29 is the Sacral Gate of commitment. As your Sun, your life is shaped by what you say yes to. Its lines run from The Draftee to Confusion, so it covers being pulled in, choosing, and losing the thread.
Why does Contagion have two Sacral Gates yet fix no Type?
Gates 14 and 29 are both in the Sacral, but each completes a Channel with a Gate outside the cross: The Beat (2-14) and Discovery (29-46), both reaching the G Center. No two Contagion Gates form a Channel together, so the cross fixes no Type or Authority. Those come from your full chart.
Which circuits does the Contagion cross touch?
Two. Gates 29 and 30 complete Collective Channels, Discovery (29-46) and Recognition (30-41). Gates 8 and 14 complete Individual Channels, Inspiration (1-8) and The Beat (2-14).
