Juxtaposition Cross of Crisis
The Juxtaposition Cross of Crisis is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 36, 6, 10 and 15, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path through emotional pressure: feeling a wave rise, working through friction, and standing on a steady sense of self underneath.
Simple way to think about it: Crisis is the fire drill. Nobody enjoys the alarm, but a building that has never practiced getting out learns where its exits are the hard way. The cross is the person who already knows where the doors are.

Look for the line that reads Juxtaposition Cross of Crisis. The four numbers in brackets are the Gates of your Personality Sun and Earth, then your Design Sun and Earth, for example (36/6 | 10/15). They match the four Gates below. The chart symbols guide shows where the Sun and Earth sit in the two planet columns.
The Crisis cross on the BodyGraph
Only two Centers hold the four Gates. Gates 36 and 6 sit together in the Solar Plexus, and Gates 10 and 15 sit together in the G Center. The conscious pair, 36 and 6, is the pair the Right Angle Cross of Eden carries; the Design pair, 10 and 15, comes from the Right Angle Cross of The Vessel of Love.

How the Crisis cross is placed
The Crisis (36/6 | 10/15)
Crisis is your conscious Sun and Friction your conscious Earth, so the emotional pressure and the conflict it stirs are the part of the cross you feel directly. The Behavior of the Self and Extremes run on the Design side, which means your steadiness under pressure may be more visible to other people than to you.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 36: Crisis
Gate 36, Crisis, is the conscious Sun, and the cross carries its name. It sits in the Solar Plexus and its hexagram is The Darkening of the Light. It completes Channel 35-36 with Gate 35 in the Throat, the Channel of Transitoriness, a manifesting Channel that joins a motor to the Throat in the Collective circuit. Its fourth line, Espionage, is fixed in this cross, which gives the Gate a watching quality: you read what is going on beneath the surface of a situation before you say a word about it.
Gate 6: Friction
Gate 6, Friction, is the conscious Earth and the second Solar Plexus Gate. Its hexagram is Conflict. It completes Channel 6-59 with Gate 59 in the Sacral, the Channel of Mating, in the Tribal circuit. Friction is the ground under the crisis: the place where a wave meets another person. Its fourth line, Triumph, is the one every Crisis chart carries, so the conflict is not aimless. It tends toward a point where something is won or settled, even when the road there is rough.
Gate 10: The Behavior of the Self
Gate 10, The Behavior of the Self, is the Design Sun, lived without thinking. It sits in the G Center and its hexagram is Treading. It is the most connected Gate in the cross, able to complete Channel 10-20 with the Throat, Channel 10-34 with the Sacral or Channel 10-57 with the Spleen, all in the Individual circuit. Its first line, Modesty, is fixed here, so the way you carry yourself starts from not making a show of it. Which Channel forms, if any, depends on your chart.
Gate 15: Extremes
Gate 15, Extremes, is the Design Earth and shares the G Center with Gate 10. Its hexagram is Modesty. It completes Channel 5-15 with Gate 5 in the Sacral, the Channel of Rhythm, in the Collective circuit. It grounds the cross in the full range of human behavior, the highs and the lows. Its first line, Duty, is the line every Crisis chart carries, so that range is held inside a sense of obligation: you may swing wide and still feel answerable for what the swing does to people.
Two conscious Gates in the Solar Plexus
Gates 36 and 6 are both in the Solar Plexus, the Center of emotions and waves, and it is the only motor Center among the cross's own Gates. In this cross both are on the Personality side. Emotion is among the first things you know about yourself, not a side effect of something else.
The Solar Plexus is also an awareness Center, so it takes in as much as it pushes out. Pressure there rises and falls like a wave rather than holding steady, and the cross asks you to know your own wave well enough to tell it apart from what is actually happening around you.
The one route from feeling to voice
Of the four Gates, only Gate 36 can complete a manifesting Channel: 35-36, which joins the Solar Plexus motor to the Throat. If your chart carries Gate 35, the emotional wave has a direct path to speech and action. Nothing in the cross itself supplies that Gate.
Without it, the wave has other places to go, such as Channel 6-59 to the Sacral if Gate 59 is present, or nowhere in particular. This is why two people with the same cross can describe it so differently: one can say what the wave is doing, and the other has to wait for it to pass.
Identity underneath: both Design Gates in the G Center
Gates 10 and 15 are both in the G Center, the Center of identity, direction and love, and both sit on the Design side. The feeling is in front and the sense of self is underneath, working without being watched.
Gate 10 can reach three different Channels, one each to the Throat, the Sacral and the Spleen, while Gate 15 reaches only Channel 5-15. So the sense of self is wide open at one end and narrow at the other, and it is here that others may see the steadiness you do not feel.
Why the Crisis is a Juxtaposition cross
In Crisis the position is fixed, unlike crosses that move through different roles. Pressure is not a phase to pass through but the setting the cross works in. The task is learning to stay in the room while the wave moves, one steady response at a time. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.
The four lines of the Crisis cross
A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Crisis cross carries these four.
| Personality Sun: Gate 36.4 Espionage | Your reading of a tense room is quiet and thorough, and you often know what is going on before anyone says it. |
|---|---|
| Personality Earth: Gate 6.4 Triumph | Conflict has an end point for you, and you tend to push through the friction toward a result that settles something. |
| Design Sun: Gate 10.1 Modesty | Below awareness you carry yourself modestly, and others read that as steadiness in moments when they expect a show. |
| Design Earth: Gate 15.1 Duty | A sense of obligation sits underneath everything, so you feel answerable for how your swings affect other people. |
Living the Crisis cross
At work
People with Crisis tend to be useful when things go wrong: support, emergency work, mediation, health and safety, any role where someone has to stay level while others react. The cost is being handed every difficult moment. Choose work where pressure is part of the job but not the whole of it, and where your read on a situation is asked for before it is needed.
In relationships
In close relationships the waves are real, and they pass. Tell the people near you that a wave is moving before you act on it, and give yourself time before settling any big question. A partner who knows the pattern can wait it out with you; one who does not may think the crisis is about them.
In decisions
A wave is not a decision. If the Solar Plexus is defined in your chart, a choice made at the top or bottom of a wave is not the same choice made when you are level.
Make choices through your Type and your own Authority, and let the cross show you where the pressure is coming from. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Crisis cross is misread
"Crisis means my life will be a series of disasters"
"Friction means I should avoid conflict"
"It is the Left Angle Cross of The Plane"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 36: What wave is moving through you right now, and what are you reading underneath it?
- Gate 6: Which conflict are you still carrying that one direct conversation could settle?
- Gate 10: When did someone last mention how calm you seemed, and what were you actually feeling?
- Gate 15: What do you feel responsible for that is not really yours to carry?

FAQ: Juxtaposition Cross of Crisis
What is the Juxtaposition Cross of Crisis?
It is a Juxtaposition Incarnation Cross in Human Design made of Gates 36, 6, 10 and 15, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path through emotional pressure, with a steady sense of self underneath it.
What are the four lines of the Juxtaposition Cross of Crisis?
The 4/1 Profile fixes them: 36.4 Espionage as the Personality Sun, 6.4 Triumph as the Personality Earth, 10.1 Modesty as the Design Sun, and 15.1 Duty as the Design Earth. Every chart with this cross carries all four.
Is the Solar Plexus defined if I have Crisis?
Not necessarily. Gates 36 and 6 sit in the same Center but do not form a Channel with each other. The Solar Plexus is defined only if your chart also carries a partner Gate, such as Gate 35 or Gate 59.
Which Gate in Crisis can reach the most Channels?
Gate 10. It can complete Channel 10-20 with the Throat, Channel 10-34 with the Sacral and Channel 10-57 with the Spleen, each depending on whether your chart carries the partner Gate.
Why is Gate 15 the ground of Crisis?
Gate 15, Extremes, is the Design Earth in the G Center, beside Gate 10. Its fixed first line is Duty, and it can complete Channel 5-15, Rhythm, with Gate 5 in the Sacral.
Which quarter does Crisis belong to?
Initiation, the quarter of purpose fulfilled through Mind. Its Personality Sun, Gate 36, sits in that quarter of the wheel.
