Why You Keep Attracting the Same Kind of Person

You notice it about the third time.

Different name, different job, different city, and somehow the same argument by month four. At some point you stop blaming luck and start wondering what is wrong with you.

Probably nothing. But something is running, and it is more mechanical than most explanations allow.

The part nobody tells you about attraction

Your chart has nine centers. Some run on their own steady energy. The rest are open, meaning they take in whatever is nearby and turn the volume up.

Now put yourself next to someone who has defined what you have open.

You do not just notice their energy. You feel a stronger version of it than they do, coming from inside your own body, and it arrives with no label saying where it came from.

That is often what people are describing when they say the chemistry was instant.

What feels like recognition is sometimes just an open center finally getting filled.

Why it repeats

Here is the loop.

An open center spends your whole life reaching for a consistent version of the thing it does not have. Then someone walks in who supplies it, and the feeling is enormous, because the contrast is enormous.

So you move toward them. Fast, usually.

And the specific kind of person who reliably fills a specific open center is a fairly narrow category. Which is why the third one has a different name and the same shape.

What it looks like, center by center

These are not personality types. They are what happens when a particular opening goes unrecognized for years.

Open Solar Plexus. You are drawn to emotional intensity and mistake it for depth. Calm people feel flat by comparison, so you keep choosing the ones who bring weather.

Open Heart. You end up with people who are certain of their own worth, because you have been trying to prove yours since you were nine. Their certainty feels like ground.

Open Sacral. You attach to people with a lot of energy and then wear yourself out keeping up with them. It feels like being alive right up until it feels like being flattened.

Open G Center. You become someone slightly different in each relationship, and afterwards you cannot say which version was you. So you look for someone with a strong sense of direction and borrow theirs.

Open Spleen. This one is the hardest. You stay. Long past the point it was good, because leaving registers as unsafe rather than as a decision you are allowed to make.

Two things this is not

Worth saying plainly, because this idea gets stretched.

It is not a reason to avoid anyone. Open centers are how you connect. Someone with an open G Center can genuinely meet a wider range of people than someone with it defined. That is a gift, not a warning.

And it does not excuse how anyone behaved. Mechanics explain why a dynamic felt magnetic. They do not explain away someone treating you badly, and a chart is not a reason to stay anywhere.

Knowing why something pulled at you is different from deciding it was correct.

The question that changes it

Not "why do I attract these people." That one has no useful answer and it puts the problem in your character.

Try instead: what am I getting from this that I cannot generate myself?

It sounds cold. It is actually the kindest version, because it turns a personal failing into a mechanical fact you can work with.

Someone with an open Heart is not weak. They have spent decades around other people's certainty and never had their own to compare it to. Once they can name that, a confident partner stops being a requirement and becomes a preference.

What changes in practice

Less than you would hope, and more than you would expect.

The twenty minute check. When a feeling about someone is strong, notice whether it survives twenty minutes away from them. Not distraction, actual distance. What fades was probably amplified. What stays is more likely yours.

Slow the beginning down. Your Authority governs this like it governs everything else, and with Emotional Authority, which is roughly half of everybody, there is no truth in the first three weeks. Only a wave.

Notice who you are around them. Not how you feel. Who you are. Open centers change the answer more than people realize, and the version of you that shows up is information.

The longer arc

People expect this knowledge to make them pickier. Usually it does the opposite.

Once you can tell your own feelings from what you are picking up, the desperate quality goes out of it. You stop needing a particular kind of person to feel like yourself, because you can feel like yourself without one.

Which, oddly, tends to widen the field rather than narrow it.
