The Informing 1 (22/47 | 11/12)

With Openness as your conscious Sun, the grace comes first: you meet people with a feeling you did not plan, and Realization, the conscious Earth, gives that feeling a thought to rest on. This Sun sits in the Initiation quarter, purpose through mind. Ideas and Caution work on the Design side, shaping what you say before you notice.

The Informing 2 (47/22 | 12/11)

Here Realization is the conscious theme: you work things out and want to say what you found, and Openness, the conscious Earth, keeps the telling warm. This Sun sits in the Duality quarter, purpose through bonding. Caution and Ideas run on the Design side, so others may hear your restraint and your concepts before you do.

Gate 22: Openness

Gate 22, Openness, sits in the Solar Plexus, the Center of emotions and waves, and its hexagram is Grace. It completes Channel 12-22 with Gate 12, which is also in this cross. That Channel is named Openness and keynoted as a design of a social being. Its lines run from Second class ticket and Charm school through The Enchanter and Sensitivity to Directness and Maturity. As a Sun it makes your purpose a question of how you receive and move people. As an Earth it adds feeling to a cross that is otherwise about words.

Gate 47: Realization

Gate 47, Realization, sits in the Ajna, the Center of concepts, opinions and certainty, and its hexagram is Oppression. It completes Channel 47-64 with Gate 64 in the Head, named Abstraction. Its lines run from Taking stock and Ambition through Self-oppression and Repression to The Saint and Futility. As a Sun it makes your purpose the work of making sense of what has happened to you. As an Earth it asks the cross to stop and understand before it speaks.

Gate 11: Ideas

Gate 11, Ideas, sits in the Ajna, and its hexagram is Peace. It completes Channel 11-56 with Gate 56 in the Throat, keynoted as a searcher. Its lines run from Attunement and Rigour through The Realist and The Teacher to The Philanthropist and Adaptability. Whichever rotation you have, it stays on the Design side of this cross. A steady stream of concepts runs below awareness, and others may meet your ideas before you have decided which of them you believe.

Gate 12: Caution

Gate 12, Caution, is the cross's Throat Gate, so it carries the voice, and its hexagram is Standstill. It completes Channel 12-22 with Gate 22. Its lines run from The Monk and Purification through Confession and The Prophet to The Pragmatist and Metamorphosis. It is on the Design side in both rotations, a voice that knows how to wait. Others may notice your caution as a pause or a hush before they notice what you say. That quiet is part of the message.

A Channel that every Informing person has

Gates 12 and 22 are both in this cross, and together they form Channel 12-22, the Channel of Openness. Every rotation carries all four Gates, so everyone with this cross has the Channel defined, and so is never a Reflector. In rotation 1, Gate 22 is your Personality Sun and Gate 12 your Design Earth. In rotation 2, Gate 12 is your Design Sun and Gate 22 your Personality Earth. Either way, one half is conscious and the other is not.

That settles one thing straight away. Channel 12-22 defines the Solar Plexus, so everyone with this cross has Emotional Authority: you decide over time, across the wave, not in the moment. That part is fixed by the cross, so take it at its word. Give a big choice a night or three before you call it final.

Why the name Informing is also a Strategy

Channel 12-22 runs from a motor, the Solar Plexus, directly to the Throat, and the canon calls that a manifested Channel. A motor joined to the Throat makes a Manifestor if the Sacral is open, or a Manifesting Generator if the Sacral is defined. Both are told to inform. Manifestors inform before they act, and Manifesting Generators respond first, then inform before acting.

So everyone with this cross is a Manifestor or a Manifesting Generator, never a Projector or a pure Generator, and your Sacral is the only open question. The cross name and the Strategy point to the same habit: tell the people your action touches, in a way they can take in. For a Left Angle cross, where the life runs through other people, that habit is the one that keeps the road clear.

Two kinds of awareness in one cross

The four Gates give this cross two of the three awareness Centers. The Ajna, with Gates 11 and 47, is mental awareness: concepts, opinions and certainty. The Solar Plexus, with Gate 22, is emotional awareness and also a motor. The Spleen, the third, is not in the cross. So the cross knows through thinking and through feeling, and has to put the two together before it speaks.

The Throat Gate comes last, and it is the cautious one. Between them, Gates 11 and 47 bring the ideas and the understanding, Gate 22 brings the feeling, and Gate 12 holds the door. When you wait until all three have had their say, what you tell people is both clear and kind. When you speak after only one, it can sound like a lecture or a mood.

Why the Informing is a Left Angle cross

A Left Angle cross is transpersonal: the purpose is worked out through other people, and your life tends to be shaped by who you meet. For Informing that is the point of the name. What you know only becomes useful when someone receives it, and how it is received teaches you what you really said. The Left Angle goes with four Profiles: 5/1, 5/2, 6/2, 6/3. With one of these, these four Gates make the Left Angle cross; with a 4/1 Profile the same Gates make a Juxtaposition cross instead.

At work

People with this cross tend to be the ones who explain things: the teammate who turns a mess of facts into a plan, or the person asked to present it. Work goes well when you have time to think and feel your way through before you speak. Tell your colleagues what you are about to do before you do it, and your ideas will land far more easily.

In relationships

Relationships are where this cross finds out what it said. Your Emotional Authority means you will not always know how you feel in the moment, and a partner who gives you room to find out is a gift. Say so when you need time, and tell them what is coming instead of leaving them to guess from your mood.

In decisions

Informing gives your life a theme, and your Emotional Authority gives you the method. Ride the wave, wait for clarity, and then tell the people the decision affects. You do not need to have the answer in the room.

Answer with your Type and your Emotional Authority, and let your voice follow from choices that were truly yours. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
