How the Power cross is placed

The Power (34/20 | 40/37)

Power is your conscious Sun and The Now your conscious Earth, so you can feel the force of your energy and the pull to act in the present. Aloneness and Friendship run on the Design side, so the need for rest, belonging and loyalty can operate before you have named it.

Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.

Gate 34: Power

Gate 34, Power, is the conscious Sun and a Sacral Gate. Its hexagram is The Power of the Great. It completes Channel 20-34 with Gate 20 in the Throat, and in this cross both are there. It can also reach Gates 10 and 57 through other Channels. The fixed fourth line is Triumph, so the power in this cross is aimed at finishing things and winning through. It is raw strength with a goal attached to it.

Gate 20: The Now

Gate 20, The Now, is the conscious Earth and the cross's Throat Gate. Its hexagram is Contemplation. It completes Channel 20-34 with Gate 34 in the Sacral, joining the energy to the voice, and could also pair with Gate 10 or Gate 57. The fixed fourth line is Application, so being in the moment means putting what you know to use. It is the ground of the cross: power that can be spoken and acted on right now.

Gate 40: Aloneness

Gate 40, Aloneness, is the Design Sun and the only Heart Gate, the Center of will. Its hexagram is Deliverance. It completes Channel 37-40 with Gate 37 in the Solar Plexus, the Channel of Community, whose keynote is a part seeking a whole. The fixed first line is Recuperation, so the work in this cross is paired with rest, and recovering is a requirement. The will works best when it is not used up.

Gate 37: Friendship

Gate 37, Friendship, is the Design Earth and the Solar Plexus Gate. Its hexagram is The Family. It completes Channel 37-40 with Gate 40 in the Heart. The fixed first line is The Mother/Father, so the friendship in this cross begins with the instinct to look after and set the tone for a household or group. It is the ground of the loyalty that balances the power and gives it a home.

A Channel that fixes your Type

Gates 34 and 20 are both in this cross, and together they make Channel 20-34, which joins the Sacral to the Throat. No chart carries this cross without all four Gates, so Channel 20-34 is defined for everyone who does. A defined Sacral joined to the Throat makes the Type a Manifesting Generator, and a Reflector is ruled out.

The cross settles this for you. You do not have to wonder which Type you are. What remains open is how you use it: the Sacral gives energy and responds, and the Throat is the way that energy gets spoken and shown.

A Channel that fixes your Authority

Gates 37 and 40 are also both in this cross, and together they make Channel 37-40, the Channel of Community. It defines the Solar Plexus, so everyone with this cross has Emotional Authority. That sits at the top of the authority order, so it settles the question of how decisions are made.

The cross is therefore a Manifesting Generator with an emotional wave, every time. Decisions are best made after the wave has had time to rise and settle, not at its peak or its trough. The strength of the Sacral is powerful, but the Solar Plexus asks it to wait.

Three motor Centers among four Gates

The Sacral, Heart and Solar Plexus are all motor Centers, and the cross puts one Gate in each, with the fourth in the Throat. There is a great deal of energy here, and it needs a destination.

The two Channels give that energy a direction. One runs from the Sacral to the voice, and the other joins the Heart to the Solar Plexus for belonging. The cross asks whether the power is going toward people or away from them.

Why the Power is a Juxtaposition cross

Under the Juxtaposition angle, Power is one fixed position and the stakes are practical: the Channels, the Type and the Authority are all settled in advance. What remains is how to use a strong, fixed setup well. The cross does not turn into some other role, so the question is how wisely that force is spent. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.

A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Power cross carries these four.

At work

People with Power can sustain large amounts of work, and the strongest fit is anything that combines sustained effort with a team: running a business, building something, leading a project, physical or creative labor. It works when the effort is something you respond to and enjoy. Build rest into the plan, since Recuperation is the first line of the Design Sun.

In relationships

In relationships this cross brings loyalty and a lot of energy, and also emotional weather. Others may find the intensity a lot. Tell the people close to you that you need a day to feel your way into a decision, and make rest and company part of the plan, not a reward for finishing.

In decisions

This cross settles how you decide: Emotional Authority, every time. Give a choice time, feel it from both sides of the wave, and then answer.
