Juxtaposition Cross of Articulation
The Juxtaposition Cross of Articulation is a Human Design Incarnation Cross made of Gates 11, 12, 25 and 46, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It is a fixed path about putting ideas into words: an idea in the Ajna, a Throat Gate to voice it, and two G Center Gates beneath.
Simple way to think about it: Articulation is the translator at a long table. The idea is already in the room and the people are already seated, but nothing moves until someone finds the right words and says them in a way the table can hear.

Look for the line that reads Juxtaposition Cross of Articulation. The four numbers in brackets are the Gates of your Personality Sun and Earth, then your Design Sun and Earth, for example (12/11 | 25/46). They match the four Gates below. The chart symbols guide shows where the Sun and Earth sit in the two planet columns.
The Articulation cross on the BodyGraph
Three Centers hold the four Gates: the Ajna has Gate 11, the Throat has Gate 12, and the G Center holds both Gate 25 and Gate 46. The conscious pair, 11 and 12, is the pair the Right Angle Cross of Eden carries. The Design pair, 25 and 46, comes from the Right Angle Cross of The Vessel of Love.

How the Articulation cross is placed
The Articulation (12/11 | 25/46)
Caution is your conscious Sun and Ideas your conscious Earth, so the Throat and the Ajna both sit on the side you know. You hear your own thoughts and your own hesitation directly. The two G Center Gates, The Spirit of the Self and The Determination of the Self, run on the Design side, and others may notice your sense of direction before you do.
The four Gates in plain language
Start with the Gate that holds your Personality Sun, then its Earth, then the Design pair.
Gate 12: Caution
Gate 12, Caution, is the conscious Sun and the only Throat Gate in the cross, so the voice sits right at the front. Its hexagram is Standstill: a pause before anything is said. It completes Channel 12-22, the Channel of Openness, with Gate 22 in the Solar Plexus, and that is a manifesting Channel, a direct link between a motor and the Throat. Its fourth line, The Prophet, is fixed in this cross: speech that looks ahead and warns before it persuades. Caution keeps the words honest by making them wait.
Gate 11: Ideas
Gate 11, Ideas, is the conscious Earth, the ground beneath the voice. It sits in the Ajna and its hexagram is Peace. It completes Channel 11-56, the Channel of Curiosity, with Gate 56, Stimulation, in the Throat, so even the ideas are built to travel toward speech. As the Earth it is steady rather than loud: a supply of pictures and concepts the Throat can draw on. Its fourth line, The Teacher, is the line this cross always carries here, and it turns the ideas toward being explained to someone.
Gate 25: The Spirit of the Self
Gate 25, The Spirit of the Self, is the Design Sun and sits in the G Center. Its hexagram is Innocence. It completes Channel 25-51, the Channel of Initiation, with Gate 51, Shock, in the Heart. Lived below awareness, it works as a quiet openness that gives the cross its starting posture. Its first line, Selflessness, is fixed here, so the articulation begins by setting the speaker aside and letting the message come first.
Gate 46: The Determination of the Self
Gate 46, The Determination of the Self, is the Design Earth and shares the G Center with Gate 25. Its hexagram is Pushing Upward. It completes Channel 29-46, the Channel of Discovery, with Gate 29, Saying Yes, in the Sacral. It grounds the cross in the body and in being where things happen. Its first line, Being discovered, is fixed in this cross: the message is not pushed on anyone, it is found by the people who come across it.
An idea in the Ajna with a voice right beside it
The Ajna is an awareness Center, the place of concepts, opinions and certainty. Gate 11 puts an idea there, and Gate 12 puts the Throat, the Center everything must pass through to leave you, right next to it on the conscious side.
The two Gates also reach toward each other through their own Channels. Gate 11 reaches for the Throat through Channel 11-56, and Gate 12 reaches for a motor through Channel 12-22. Nothing here is guaranteed to complete. But the cross is arranged so that an idea has a short road to being said.
No motor among the four Gates
None of the four Gates sits in a motor Center. The Ajna, the Throat and the G Center receive, shape and express; they do not push. The cross carries meaning without carrying drive, so the energy to act on it has to come from somewhere else in the chart.
One place it can arrive is Channel 12-22. If Gate 22 is also in your chart, Gate 12 completes a manifesting Channel that links the Solar Plexus motor straight to the Throat. Whether that happens depends on the rest of your design. The cross by itself defines no Channel, so it fixes neither your Type nor your Authority.
Two Gates in the G Center, on two different circuits
Gates 25 and 46 are both in the G Center, the Center of identity and direction, and both sit on the Design side. Gate 25 belongs to the Individual circuit through Channel 25-51, and Gate 46 to the Collective circuit through Channel 29-46. So the sense of who you are carries both a private note and a shared one.
With Gate 11 on the Collective side and Gate 12 on the Individual side, the whole cross touches both circuits. The articulation moves between speaking for yourself and speaking for many, and the skill is knowing which one a given moment calls for.
Why the Articulation is a Juxtaposition cross
Because Articulation comes only with the 4/1 Profile, the work it describes cannot be traded for another role. The idea, the voice and the starting posture stay where they are for a whole life. What changes with time is not the position but the skill: how clearly the same four Gates learn to say what they carry. The Juxtaposition goes with one Profile, 4/1. With any other Profile the same four Gates make a Left Angle cross instead.
The four lines of the Articulation cross
A Juxtaposition cross comes only with the 4/1 Profile: your Personality Sun sits in line 4 and your Design Sun in line 1, and each Earth shares the line of its Sun. So unlike every other cross, this one comes with its lines fixed. Everyone born with the Articulation cross carries these four.
| Personality Sun: Gate 12.4 The Prophet | Your cautious voice looks ahead, sensing where an idea is heading and speaking up before the room has to find out for itself. |
|---|---|
| Personality Earth: Gate 11.4 The Teacher | Your ideas are shaped to be taught, so you tend to explain what you understand in steps that another person can follow. |
| Design Sun: Gate 25.1 Selflessness | Below awareness you set yourself aside and let the message arrive first, which others may read as humility or ease. |
| Design Earth: Gate 46.1 Being discovered | Your direction tends to be found rather than announced, by people who come across what you have already been doing. |
Living the Articulation cross
At work
Articulation suits roles where an idea has to be turned into clear language: teaching, writing, explaining a product, briefing a team. The Teacher favors steps and examples, and Being discovered suggests your best work reaches people through being seen, not through pitching. With no motor in the cross, it helps to work beside people who supply the energy to carry an idea out.
In relationships
At home the cross can leave you with the right words an hour too late, because Caution waits before it speaks. Tell the people close to you that the pause is not distance. Say the short version first, come back for the long one, and ask what they heard rather than assuming the idea landed.
In decisions
Putting a choice into words is not the same as making it. Let your Type and Authority decide, then use the cross to explain the decision clearly.
It fits people who are often asked to explain things and want to do it well, with the choosing left to your own Strategy and Authority. Your Strategy and Authority are how you get there; the cross is where it leads.
When the Articulation cross is misread
"If I have Gates 11, 12, 25 and 46, I have Education"
"Articulation means I should be a public speaker"
"Caution means I should stay quiet"
Questions to sit with
One question for each Gate. Notice which one you answer quickly and which one you avoid.
- Gate 12: What are you waiting to say, and is the wait caution or only habit?
- Gate 11: Which idea are you carrying that you have never put into words for anyone?
- Gate 25: If the message came before you in the room, what would you let it say?
- Gate 46: Who has found you through your work, and what did they find?

FAQ: Juxtaposition Cross of Articulation
What is the Juxtaposition Cross of Articulation?
It is a Juxtaposition Incarnation Cross in Human Design made of Gates 11, 12, 25 and 46, carried only with the 4/1 Profile. It describes a fixed path of turning ideas into spoken or written language, with a Throat Gate at the front and two G Center Gates beneath.
What are the four lines of the Juxtaposition Cross of Articulation?
They are fixed by the 4/1 Profile: 12.4 The Prophet as the Personality Sun, 11.4 The Teacher as the Personality Earth, 25.1 Selflessness as the Design Sun, and 46.1 Being discovered as the Design Earth. Everyone with this cross carries all four.
Where does the voice sit in Articulation?
Gate 12, Caution, the Personality Sun, is the only Throat Gate in the cross, and its fixed fourth line is The Prophet. Gate 11, Ideas, in the Ajna can complete Channel 11-56 with Gate 56 in the Throat, if your chart carries it.
Can Articulation complete a manifesting Channel?
Yes, but only with help from the rest of your chart. Gate 12 completes Channel 12-22, a manifesting Channel, if Gate 22 is also in the Solar Plexus. The cross alone does not define it.
Do two G Center Gates make Articulation a cross about identity?
They give it a G Center base. Gates 25 and 46 are the Design Sun and Earth, so a sense of self and direction runs underneath, below awareness. What the cross puts in front is the idea and the voice, Gates 11 and 12.
Does Articulation guarantee a gift for speaking?
No. It places a Throat Gate as the conscious Sun, which is a channel for expression, but skill comes with practice. The fixed fourth lines, The Prophet and The Teacher, show the style it leans toward: looking ahead and explaining.
